The beauty of the national budget's y-o-y growth is its direct co-relation to the growth of our customer deposits c/o Govt. Agencies hence, further room for loan book growth

Congrats, the analysis is great. I think KCB has a huge potential upsurge and I believe institutional investors are looking the direction the Bank's re-structuring is heading to. Should all look ok, we might never see KCB below 30 again.

Seeing that we are on the issue of speculating on future prices... I believe the share prices below are realistic, but which is more likely by end of 2011, and why/why not?... Safaricom @4.50 (current @3.95); Equity @28.00 (current @25.25) KCB @28.00 (current @25.50) KK @10.50 (current @9.70) "All intelligent investing is value investing -- acquiring more than you are paying for. Due to fantastic y o y growth, and foreign investor support. Equity coz of agents i think it will really increase the no. Of customers, and the bottom line. And lets not forget, these two are 1st and second so far this yr in banks profitability and think the market will reward that. Your other picks are highly possible if not conservative. @Cde: KCB does a lot of financing for fuel... that's why the lending has jumped since fuel prices have jumped. Say 100,000,000 litres imported monthly @ $0.50 = $50mn (2009) In 2010 the same 100mn litres jumped in price to $0.75 = $75mn Add financing for Rwanda, Uganda, etc for many of these OMCs & you can see the numbers jumping... Now going to OTHER corporate biashara... BBK, SCBK, Citibank, etc are the leaders. Not to forget the Tier 2 banks likes NIC, DTB, I&M, etc who are also in this sector... Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

That's very true @VVS abt KCB thus in addition to financing due to high import bill, their forex earnings are boosted with volatility like recently. Soon & very soon Kenyan banks will dilute those beberu banks. I detest seeing them mentioned. I rest assured when I see our local banks relentlessly scaling up & Kenyans continuing to have faith in them. Beberu arudi kwao!!

@cde: I am not a huge fan of KCB. Not yet anyway. They need to completely clean house of the managers who were involved in Triton, etc Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Competition is good as I'm sure if Equity or KCB were the only players in the market they would squeeze every dime out of their customers. Loans would be at 25%. Mtado? ************************************************* These two counters moved over 3.6 million shares each today, accounting for 59% of turnover. GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE
