Market hardly open n I'v got orders to buy Safcom from all n sundry at 7.50 for slightly over 720k shares! Its a buy for mid-to -long term.. 6months onward! It would be good to realise the market is so dynamic.. If institutions won't mop it..individuals are. Foreseeable monthly pick would be 8-9. Demand is very high at 7.40 but thins out incredibly at any thing above 7.50..with only individual who have orders of less than 12k shares quotin 8.

'..and it came to pass..' so did we!
This market will probably outlive us. Wacha pupa!!u can't have it all.

Once individuals get their refunds demand will border infinity. Guys who bought at lows of 6 since monday have already made a profit in 2 days! @Jammo whats you prediction on how this share will behave in the next 3 months?

@kazee.. Three months anythin could happen. It depends with how efficiently the economy assimilates the refunds..CBK hasn't started off well by demanding banks to reject endorsed cheques..meanin some how more cash from individuals is likely to be consumed..sparkin inflationary tendencies(too much cash chasin too few goods)..instead of goin back to the market. Most orders now are comin from people with savings n clever ways of gettin cash against their uncleared refund cheques. For clearin days means cash finds way back into market mid next week. Am thinkin too much attention is on the stock..thus why focus on others is rather mild. So for those who missed buses..or th equity train..its a fine tym to find an entry point while focus is on Safcom. I must give it up to STOCKSMASTER! Ur analysis on Safcom was superb n i was able to hav majority of existin investors ignor th ipo n get in on secondary market. Thanx man!

@ Jammo

How far do you think this share will rise based on the fundamentals. Can anyone get in the bus at this stage?

@ mtaalam. On September 10,2009 Morgan Stanley published a research report revising their target price up 40% for Safaricom to Kshs4.40. Interesting how volumes really picked up after the price crossed Kshs4.40,but I think it has been grossly overbought since wednesday's close. Where the bulk of the 53 million shares local or foreign? That would be interesting to know.

Hi,

Would it be a good idea to buy at the price of 4.40/-(hoping I can do that this coming monday) and then sell later if price goes to 7/- hopefully?

I am thinking of buying and selling end of Jan or even before then.Or shd I buy Equity at the current price to offload may be at a similar time.

Please someone assist as I have some 400k lying idle somewhere and would want to utilise it by early Feb.

Your input would be of much assistance

Manja investor,i know you are adressing the investment gurus,so mine is just a comment for I'm in no way an expert: I have learnt the hard way never ever to put money i need in the near future in stocks... I only put money that I can hold there for long..

LOL... Those who bought at 7.40 were chomeka'd vibaya!!!
*** The closing price was 4.80 so expect it to cross 5/- this week but buyers beware... At 5/-,a lot of frustrated Kenyans will start selling but it seems the buyers are waiting.

Jammo, you seem to be a Guru at this. Advise please. My wife and I have about 180,000 share. We are having debate of when to off load. i think we should hold till Dec 2010 she says we offload now make our profit and immediately buy at current price.

@Retro;

Rather than sell the whole lot,you may want to consider some profit taking...this way.

You bought at 4.8 if it goes up by 10% [5.30],sell 10% of your holding [18,000 shares] and wait......if it goes another 10% [5.80],sell another 10% of the remaining holding [16,000 shares]......

Someone couldnt avoid taking a swipe at Jammo but if you look keenly, you will realize that serious contributors have left SK in droves in the last 6 months. One of the biggest reasons for this is that some new contributors have flooded the investment sub-category with all manner of lewd jokes and comments about other contributors. Making SK a joke can only discourage the likes of Jammo,Young,Mwanahisa,Tuskerbaridi,Soros etc. Hata Njung'e amehepa and Kaiganjo no longer gives his very good analysis of agricultural issues because he is simply not challenged.

With regard to Safaricom, value investors know that this stock is a long term buy. My long term is usually 7 to 10 years. Any short term appreciation is welcome.
