There is a dilution of the share of abt 32.18% due to additional 85.4M share to Govt and debenture holders.

KPMG valued the share and priced them @10/= a share.

The Govt, and 3 other shareholders are the only ones restricted from selling their shares b4 12 months are over.i.e shareholders with more than 2.5% shareholding.

So how did ciano come up with the 17/- price or @kangazia @15 or is this the greater fool theory at work.

I understand Uchumi is not paying tax. Once they start paying tax what will happen? What will happen to profit margin?

Is it a buy?

Uchumi s NOT a buy. Sadly, when those long suffering shareholders rush to sell their stock tomorrow, the walls of Jericho will come tumbling down. And with the dilution already mentioned above, I doubt if the price will maintain above 12 for the rest of the week.

Retail is a good bet. But probably depends on what level it will start trading. Something in the region of 5-7 would fair

@Selah KPMG valued the share at 12/= and the company decided to discount the price to 10/=. I think the debenture holders should have gone with the wall street maxim "never convert a convertible bond". They will come out worse off unless they can sell at 12/= or higher.

The market can be irrational and it's up to to take advantage of it. If i was to sell you a business with assets of 2.1 billion and capable of generating profit of 244m a year. How much will you pay for it?

@Kangazia is willing to pay 3.9billion at 15/= a share

You have to value the whole company then make a choice whether the individual price per share is worth it.

Should trade between 25 and 30 bob

http://www.capitalfm.co....hares-listing-6125.html

Currently estimated to be worth Sh17.20 per share, many stock market analysts believe that it has a lot of potential to gain significant ground given the great turnaround and the strong fundamentals of the firm that a few years ago had collapsed under a heap of debt.

The Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks Chairman Michael Gichohi told Capital Business that if all the attained growth and its prospects are factored, then the share should not trade below Sh25.

He foresaw it stabilising at Sh28 in the next three to six months and affirmed Mr Ciano's advice that shareholders should not dispose them.

Further, Mr Gichohi who's also Suntra Investment’s Managing Director said the lifting of the Uchumi share suspension will stimulate the equities market, whose activity has been quiet.

"This is a major turnaround because investors are going to see that you can get a company out of receivership back into profitability and then back to the stock exchange. That will bring people to start looking for opportunities to more into such a company," Mr Gichohi said.

This Mr.Gichohi seems like the wrong fellow to listen to.A high price for uchumi shares is good for him cause as a broker he gets paid on a commission so the more he convinces people uchumi is worth more the more he makes anyway hio 28 yake tutaona

@yekeyeke,

Why would the market pay such a huge premium for Uchumi. What is expected annual growth for the company in the next 5 years?

Probably a good stock.
I agree with Ciano ... shareholders should hold on.
For vultures out there, at between 5/= and 10/= isnt a bad deal

People you need to be aware of the prevailing market mood.We are in a sideways/bear market.Which investors will poor money to pump the price of this stock ????
and that fact in itself calls for a massive price fall as those wanting so badly to be out of the stock cannt get people to buy and push the price futhure down to find willing buyers.I am sure there will be ignorant shareholders there who dnt even know about its eps, p/e and what have you.
For me i think there'll be heavy selling...thats for sure.Guys want out of this thing just like safaricom and thats a very nice ingredient for the price to collapse..as for a rally to ksh 28.00 as projected . Not this year...
Its gud guys that you give it time to find its direction and then buy in.
