'Who Owns Kenya' programme glorifying thieves?!

I have been watching this WHO OWNS KENYA programme on Citizen Prime. Yesterday I saw them profiling Uhuru Kenyatta, glorifying his billion dollar investments, and all I could think is of how rewarding thievery is in Kenya. For me I was able to snap out of this trance after a few minutes of contemplating, but I can imagine there are scores of Kenyans who are being influenced by the thieves being worshipped on this programme to think that stealing is the best way of accumulating wealth. I really think they should do away with profiling those who have accumulated wealth by dubious means. This programme should be scrapped, as it does no good in inspiring the youth. They should replace it with some differently named programme, with the same purpose of profiling rich fellows. It is better to profile some inspiring guy who has accumulated wealth of 50 million legally, than to profile those who have 50 billion illegally, ama?

Its good to know who owns what in Kenya irrespective of how this property was acquired, cause even if these fellows are not given audience they will still own this property. Maybe 1 day they will be asked to account for how they acquired that property. If in Gichuru's case they was no further probing in his divorce who would have know that he had hidden money in New Jersey.

I share the similar views. But tis a culture that is deep rooted in the country.remember someone commenting that he doesnt know what his father does? Doing a honest job in Kenya does not attract ,however you rob a bank,or defraud the gava or anyone else for that matter, kenyans will say,'huyo jamaa ako na akili..anajua kutafuta pesa sana.and then next thing you know is Julie Gichuru featuring him/her in who owns Kenya........ Hope is not a strategy

the programme is Ok but I have a problem with it because it is never accurate. There is very poor research to it. The Journalist golden rule is "if in doubt, leave it" .This rule is not followed by Citizen. "You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. I agree with @sanity. Who owns Kenya is very Kenyan. Get wealth by all means necessary. What Samuel Gichuru has done is similar to what so many do at a much smaller scale yet they are throwing stones at him!

Kwanza I didnt like the way Julie dismissed Easther of "nitoe nguo" fame. That was such a poor interview. I support the exposure of these thieves's estates. We need to know what they stole n where they stashed it. TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

I would prefer a programm on young people who are getting wealthy through creating value - like what Kiss FM does with guys under 35, who are making a difference - and the difference is genuine effort, through legal means. I find 'who owns Kenya'not inspirational ..... for lack of better words. The laudable is more often than not rendered laughable by overclaim

It is still amazing and inspiring to hear of people who have built small but viable SMEs, or have climbed the social ladder against the odds. We don't need to know how thieves have stolen and are enjoying the fruits of their plunder.

Well, more emphasis should be made to self made young guys, from jua kali artisan who have made it big to IT/software developers. It's high time we stopped giving the looters coverage, the media should also focus on positive news when was the last time they showed something very positive happening? She may not be a thieflet but she has no doubt benefited from the proceeds of crime("indirectly")....and from her fascination with the rich fellows she profiles, we may never know for sure whether she is not a Gichuru by design.0:)

My beef is with the title 'who owns kenya'. Does it me that i, with my shilinginaire networth have no stake in kenya. That i am just a squatter with no rights to what kenya has to offer. This programme entrenches impunity to say the least. Life is short. Live passionately.

The programme is good coz we'll know what to go after when getting Kenya's stolen loot back. 'They say money cannot buy me happiness but when i compare when i had none and now, i'm happier' Kevin O'leary
