Here are latest audited results; http://www.uchumi.com/in...amp;id=48&Itemid=67

Yeah, remove the tax credits and you are left with an eps of about 2.40. Now would you pay 17 bob for this?

1) How did you get 2.40 as EPS (if there was no tax credit}?

2) A 'normal' business has to pay tax on PBT so the (forward) EPS should be adjusted for tax when comparing against other investments

3) A PER of 8 is good but I think the DILUTED (since more shares may have been issued) EPS will be lower than what it shown

Overall, we have insufficient information. Well, anyway, I have insufficient info to make a judgment or valuation!

I would like to see 1H 2010-11 Results as well...

Yes; there is very little to go with; and it is shocking that with an impending return to the NSE, nobody [Uchumi, CMA, NSE] is seeing the importance of demanding publication of results for 31st Dec 2010 and 31st Mar 2011.

With that info, one can decide whether to sell, buy or hold....

BTW; @VVS, I had assumed that without the credit one is left with half the profit....but I now see your point about taxation. So The EPS would be lower, perhaps 1.70, assuming [again!] 30% tax....

Urgh!! some one please tell them to publish their numbers!!!!

1st half 2010/11 results posted on 17 Feb 2011 - see NSE site (http://www.nse.co.ke/newsite/pdf/YEAR%202011/Announcements/Uchumi.pdf)
For some reason, they dont compare directly with the 1 half of previous year, which is also on the NSE site (http://www.nse.co.ke/newsite/pdf/Year%202010/Announcements/Uchumi.pdf)

If uchumi happens to open at above 14.50 many prisoners(share holder) for the last five year will be trying to get out fast and this will drive the share below 10.......for me time will tell (mwenda pole hajikwai..)
