given the prevailing circumstances if the old man's wish materialised the old woman's diamonds may or may not disappear depending on the situation...if the old lady retained the diamonds then she would be a second wife (most likely)...if the diamonds disappeared it means she would become a divorcee...
next, the young man may have choices...to take on the old miserable rich lady (to console one another) and move on or he gets another diamond digger....
i pity the old lady...she would be the biggest looser...
...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...
