See the story on BBK's change in fortunes. It has slipped from second (behind Stanchart) in PAT in Q1 2010 and 1st for the FY 2010 to 5th in Q1 2011. In PBT they are 3rd behind Equity and KCB. On the other hand, Equity has jumped from position 4 in the Q1 2010 PAT stakes to top dog in Q1 2011.

bbk poor performance may be as a result of decisions on key items that have to be approved by the 'queen':-lending policies, staffing, almost everything, even approval for replacing a toilet seat may require the 'queens' authority.
local banks will therefore continue dominating the market, at least in the interim.

They need to do a proper market intelligence. Else they will forever lag Equity, KCB and Coop.
