Have you ever bought a bicycle/tricycle from this guys (they have a shop in Yaya and somewhere else) and what's your experience?

BBI will solve it

(Speaking as a former amateur cyclist who has been there once upon a time abt 6 years ago - therefore this feedback might not be accurate ) - be wary of counterfeits...spares might seem genuine (Shimano drive trains, Look pedals, Mavic rims, Giant tubes, etc) - even the bikes themselves might seem to have genuine components but the frames and other parts might be knock offs - if you are looking for a regular bike (to face the fuel prices and shortages smile ) if you are not too choosy abt "highest" quality but want a decent everyday bike, then you might as well go to Nakumatt (12-18k for a decent one). Or go to Nairobi Sports house - you will get a decent MTB for less than 30k.

If you are OK for an original good brand 2nd hand bike, let me know...I know a guy who knows a guy...

I bought a tricycle for my kid from Pro-bikes and it fell apart in less than 6 months. They tell me that they can't fix it because there's some bolt missing and that's ok. Now my question is, how does a toddler spoil a metal bike to irreparable form in 3-6 months? I'm looking for a few people who have experienced the same problem so I can forward this matter to KEBS of other consumer protection agencies.

Uh oh! And I've been thinking to buy from them. Their new bikes are quite pricey but they'll stock the odd used bike every once in a while - I spotted one that was in decent shape but by the time I went back to get it (after about 5 days) it was already sold.

The other place I've checked is Bikes & Sports at Galleria but their bikes are even pricier - upwards of 100K for the kind I want. I understand there is yet another shop at Sarit but I am yet to check it out.

There is also Skybikes (who claim to sell imported used bikes, from Japan I think) but I haven't been able to locate them. No website and the numbers they've given on OLX don't go through.

Do people know other places I should be looking? I want a 26" hardtail MTB, aluminium frame, decent gearing system and preferably with hydraulic disk brakes. I'd be just as happy with a 27.5" or 29er as I am tall enough for that too.

And by the way, is importing a single unit an option?

bikes and sports have really good quality bikes and spares but i would advise against buying their accessories. The accessories fall off after a week or so and one needs tie wraps to hold them in place. Laughing out loudly maybe it's due to many potholes on our roads

If you want a good bike at a relative cheap price there are quite a number of fb pages you can look into. we have 'North Nairobi Cycle club' and 'Green Cycle shop - Kenya' (Pole i could put the links, internet acting up). I'm sure in these pages you'll get a bike or a guy who knows a guy......
