I expected the Lang'ata branch near Wislon to be operating up to late hours, but they close at around 9 pm. I think we are yet to be fully 24-hour country.

The smaller stores [which sell stuff you need immediately] will remain open. Makes sense... You don't go shopping for Beds at midnight but you do for beer, vodka & Sodas... The area around Lifestyle is becoming shady [well, K-Street has been like that for ages. Ask the MPs] & I think the parking lot was being used for more than parking cars... ;-) Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

However the building that houses Lifestyle is owned by NSSF and I hear they will put at least 30 storeys on it. If the user is a combination of offices and apartments, then that could redefine Lifestyle.

True.. unfortunately, with Mututho, there's no money to be made from this.. The branch that got burnt used to have long queues on Friday nights from 11 P.m.

True.. unfortunately, with Mututho, there's no money to be made from this.. The branch that got burnt used to have long queues on Friday nights from 11 P.m. Not that I go shopping for beer at midnight nowadays! I do shop late at night at certain times. Why? Just being busy or I am coming home late & I need stuff. Typically, prepared foods! @vvs, why would you be doing processed/prepared foods and there's a missus at home? I'm sure you can work the microwave if you don't want to wake her up

Nssf was prevented from putting up the rest of the floors by the RBA laws and regulations of 1997. Nssf was not allowed to have more than 30% invested in real estate. Nssf could not finish the building and was even forced to sell some of its properties. Life is short. Live passionately.

Anyway, hopefully NSSF can build it OR partner with good/'claen' asset managers & developers to build the 30 stories! Greedy when others are fearful. @Wendz, did you buy Pan Africa? The signature of God runs in all things. Only fools fail to see it and believe in Him. However, others see it even where non exists - now you see where the false pastor comes in.

Is there a chance that Jan Mohammed was brought to the board to be the 'independent' chairman? Is there any rule against a serving chief executive in a listed firm being a chairman of another listed firm?

Supermarket sales volumes 2009(us $m) No. of outlets Nakumatt 363 29 Tuskys 231 25 Uchumi 132 17 Naivas 69 13 Chandarana 12.5 6

Very crude mathematics. The average sell for each store are as follows:
Nakumatt 363/29 = 12.5 Tuskys 231/25 = 9.2 Uchumi 132/17 = 7.8 Naivas 69/13 = 5.3 Chandarana 12.5/6 = 2.1
Nakumatt is light years ahead, means either the stores are very well located or there is advantage in economies of scale.
Tuskys looks quite disappointing.
