Looking at what motorists have to go through everyday on the stretch from Bellevue to Haile-selassie round-about, I wonder what any of the so called policy makers have been thinking. Considering that the construction may take upto 4 years to complete, it means we are in trouble upto around 2016 (assuming they award the contract now - yet there are no signs yet).

The jam wont reduce even then.More people will simply move to Kitengela,Syokimau,Athi etc due to the improved roads....then same trouble all over again!
The solution I think is to have a serious & reliable train service.Same applies for Rongai,LA route.
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

Oh how I'd love it if the government would invest in an extensive rail network in Nairobi and other major towns and in partnership with other stakeholders ensure most areas are served by reliable train services.

I would love to read the newspaper in a comfortable train on my way to work than drive there. It is less stressful not to mention cheaper and more environment friendly - assuming they don't import second hand engines manufactured in the 60's!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@bird_man,

I agree we need a mix of solutions, but we need to get started on something now! How can we keep talking of Vision-2030, Malili technopolis etc, and yet any would-be invester coming to the city sits on traffic from JKIA for 3 hours.

Rail network?? You have to kill two first before it can take off. The insurance guy and the road transport guy for they will fight to the bitter end to ensure that kind of a project does not take off, is derailed when it takes off, and dies there after. mambo ni ngumu sana.
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

I pray for the day we have a light rail network.

Uhuru Highway/Msa Road is one of the most burdened of our roads. With the crazy timings of most of our motored brothers and sisters a solution will most definitely be found in decongesting the road and one way is by removing round abouts.

Me thinks that if we can get rid of the roundabouts start with the Nyayo Stadium (2), do away with the Haile Sellasie one as well as Kenyatta Ave, and University way then we can be set for better times.

This is where you would need to borrow from a muhindi's book of business knowledge. You come with a gigantic lobbying budget and don't waste time. Grease the palms of all relevant ministers PAP na kazi iendelee! With the lawmakers on your side you have a formidable team and forge ahead. By the way, @wazuans, you know to make it in life, you have to think biggest. Why can't us wazuans come together and try doing this railway thing?
