I'm not a politician but feel compelled to agree with those that dispute Synovate's polls.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201104170037.html

I'll not comment on the obvious candidates but I have to suppress laughter if their poll shows Kalonzo Musyoka with 13% and Martha Karua with just 6%...and Peter Kenneth with just 1%.

If their sample was representative enough (young, old, rural, urban, 8 provinces, etc etc) I'd think the results should read differently....No way Kalonzo is in the top 3....

I think we all recall the "measured" way they released results during November - December 2007 which showed one candidates popularity rising...now they show one candidate's popularity declining...

You have to ask yourself how accurate these polls are.

I agree with you. I got a bad feeling these polls are not measuring opinions but infact conditioning us for a particular outcome. After ivory coast and libya, and a beberu in charge at synovate: anything is possible. On kalonzo, are you saying martha could do better?

Pollsters get funding from politicians. They then do surveys that massage the egoes of the politician and misinform the public

One should be sober enough to demarcate between ones own parochial view and the reality on tghe ground!

The Synovate poll:
The only issue is the time it is conducted - wait until electioneering time - the landscape will shift considerably.

Guys, politics just bring out the worst in Kenyans. When your preferred candidate is ahead in the polls, you cheer. When the guy you dont like is ahead you trash the poll ratings. It happens all the time.

IMHO, Martha is heading nowhere, neither is Peter Kenneth unless the president will be elected only by the good people of Gatanga. It does not mean that Synovate does not fiddle numbers which I think they do, but people, even if Angels carried out the study, someone would still accuse them of favouring the other party.

@Robinhood - not quite - you will notice I have glossed over most of the results to do with the main candidates. Above you say that we jeer any candidates we do not like. I am 100% for Martha but have refrained from saying anything about the "supposed" top candidates. But perhaps I should now. i think they are no good, busy bodies with the ethics of a K-street slut - there! said it. They will, just like Kalonzo has done with limited success, prostitute themselves politically - sleep in beds they vowed never to....only to gain power. I say F them!

I have limited my analysis to the ratings she has received vis a vis other candidates who, IMHO, cannot stand alone on their own.

We need leaders who are willing to sacrifice their own personal politcal ambitions for the good of the people.
