Mate, this counter is likely to touch lower prices because of the NSSF plan to exit this counter and the general downfall of the market

I didn't know that. Why would NSSF exit Bamburi? Bamburi is like BAT no matter how much it's battered it always comes out stronger.

Its market share will continue being eroded if it refuses to cut prices. Even BAT was forced to cut the price of Sportsman

@2012

My understanding is that NSSF is pulling out of Bamburi with an aim of taking a huge chunk of ARM. This is supposed to be informed by the governments push to lock out Lafarge in the development of Mui Basin in Kitui in favour of the home grown ARM.

Bamburi has been angling itself as the company of choice in controlling limestone and coal from the basin. Kibz administration has been pushed to the extreme to give Lafarge the green light to rape our resources but he seems more enlightened.

The time you should put your money in Bamburi is if an economic hitman finally succeeds in persuading Kibz that he would rather give in or be in trouble as he is disposable.

In that case, Bamburi would build a super factory at the Mui site, mine limestone for its use, mine coal for heating the limestone and powering the factory plus selling excess power to KPLC, reduce power cost down from 40% to 20%, sell coal and clinker to the rest and the sky becomes the limit, even if Chinese and Simba cement dares them.

Right now, a case is ranging between ARM and BC at the Commercial Court if not Arbitration Court over who got the rights to do the mining first and where.

NSSF holds a dim outlook for the stock. Note that Bamburi recorded 7.4% drop in Profit before tax and exceptional items in year 2010. In 2011, competition is still stiff and inflation pressure is high leading to a dim outlook for the stock. However, NSSF is yet to reach the final decision of selling the stock

Problem started when Bamburi threw out NSSF representative as director from their board. NSSF felt it wouldnt allow other people run its huge investment without its say on the board level(which is justified) and threatened to pull out.

NSSF eyes more Bamburi shares to win board seat

Who will sell to them 10.88 million shares to achieve this?

Bamburi Bamburi. Nssf gets a cheque then it hits them, this is a nice investment! This shows following corporations is not always wise. What i would give to see bamburi in the 130's -140's one more time.

They are accumulating from now upto the next AGM so they will most certainly get.

.... but this NSSF, another day they gave a dim outlook of Bamburi and they wanted to sell the shares, how can we be sure that this time they are serious on their 'buy talk'

How will they accumulate if there are no sellers.Or will they offer a premium price?

NSSF has roughly one year to the next Bamburi AGM (last one was held on 07.06.2012). A premium price will entice the sellers to come out of the cocoons. I however note that they need to give a very good premium because i see the counter traded 7.1M shares only in the whole of year 2011.

... but is NSSF really serious on this 'buy talk'? I find them to be kigeugeu. Now they say this and in a minute they say that

Forget a premium, they have a buy window between October 2012 and April 2013 assuming the general eRections will be in March.Sad Sad

NSSF can also forget the 10.88M shares. Those shares are worth more than KES 1.7B which is far more than the turnover witnessed on this counter in the whole of year 2011. .... @Pesa Nane, how could you even think that they can get those shares in 6 months without paying a hefty premium. Kenya wont be burning!
