@Maint, Hehehee. Tru tru, but that thaai thaai thing of theirs? the snuff, dreadlocks, kikuyu cultural revival thing... Etc etc. They certainly seem to share quite a bit with the Mau mau.

To equate mungiki with mau mau freedom fighters is to exhibit profound ignorance of history. Or it's a not-so-clever but futile attempt to re-write history.

Mungiki are not freedom fighters but they use Maumau tactics....Most Mau mau fighters were Thugs using the freedom struggle to kill innocent pple who did not support their cause..Its argued that the brutality of Mubeberu actually led to our freedom due to condemnation from Britain as opposed to the Maumau uprising.

This is what i call total ignorance.

MariaMungu was a true freedom fighter and a maumau veteran whose exploit rival that of Dedan Kimathi. But in central most of the freedom fighters actually killed more kenyans than mubeberu.

My grandfather even told me the Meru branch of the MauMau was more organised and very few snitches came from the area.

IF you saw a clip on the freedom struggle you would have seen in Gatundu they killed a very close friend of Kenyatta [I presume he was a chief]after Kenyatta tried to end the violent uprising. The killing of the chief was to silence Kenyatta, it explains why kenyatta showed apathy when dealing with MAUMAU veterans during his tenure as the president.

In regards to Mungiki this is an outfit that uses Maumau tactics to have control on its membership but in actual sense it operates as the Sicilian mafia.

Being the son of Robin Hood doesn't mean you will rob the rich and give the poor.

Does it?

for those who do not understand our history and culture, please devoid misleading others.
Mau Mau is not the same as mungiki. The former liberated the current kenya from the colonial york while the latter is destructive purpoting as Mau Mau sons/children.

Incases where Mau Mau killed their kins,it was a result of eliminating informers and those who were collaborating with the colonialists to commit more atrocities to the kenyan people through forced hard labour, sex slaves and stealing of their land.

If you study keenly on what happened with the three central kenya famous / infamous massacres, you will appreciate how we got freedom ie "muito wa gatumbiro in Nyeri; muito wa Lari in kiambu and mbara ya ruui ruiru in Nyeri "

The first two massacres targeted the collaborators while the third targeted the beberu and the latter led to the first land demarcation in kenya to the black people which started in Nyeri.

I really dont believe in this line of thought. Those in concentration camps had alot to do with liberation than those in the forest.

Furthermore which mau mau fighter ever got into the negotiation table with the mubeberu regime.

@selah, how do you think they ended up in concentration camps? Dig up some history.

if you look at the attacks by maumau and mungiki they are extraordinary similar in terms of savagery execution timing (mostly at night)another thing most of the members were/are young men upto mid 30s from rural central kenya may be its a cultural thing the similarities are to stark to ignore
