It could be true. It depends on the class and cost of schools. There was less financial sleaze under jomo than under moi and kibaki. But heck, ile mashamba jomo aliiba haihesabiki!

@This is very true. Yes, it is very possible that he had no money (cash). That does not mean they were not wealthy. What she means, is, all their wealth was in land. And I guess schools could not accept land for schools fees. So, they converted land into cash to pay schools fees.

Her statement does not in any way mean they were poor.
