Sad, sad. How do we progress as a nation if the various government departments are segmented along tribal lines?

yes, some have more than their fair share.
real impunity
The figures also show that given a chance, everybody will be just as badPray

The audit also reveals that the Kikuyu and the Kalenjin have a greater share of jobs in the civil service than their populations.

Whereas the Kikuyu constitute 17.7 per cent of the Kenyan population, they occupy 22.3 per cent of the civil service jobs. The Kalenjin on the other hand occupy 16.7 per cent of all civil service jobs despite constituting only 13.3 per cent of the population.

The Meru also occupy 5.9 per cent of all civil service jobs despite constituting 4.4 per cent of the country’s population, followed by the Kisii who occupy 6.8 per cent of all jobs despite constituting 5.9 per cent of the population.

This is because the kawaida Kenyan loves this and would want it to continue so long as he can benefit. If you doubt this, meet anyone who is senior in govt related body and ask him the hassles he gets from watu wa nyumbani. Ive heard people say huyo hawezi saidia just coy someone didnt allow this villagers to interfere with hiring.

Liar,, liar. The PM's office has 22% luos and 21% Kikuyus, is that what you call "almost fully luos"

On the other hand the office of the president has 361 out of 373 kikuyu's, a whopping 96%.

A recent study done at Gikomba Market showed that 96% belong to one Community!

What a shame!!!

The same trends was observed at Marikiti and even in the powerful transport industry.

IMHO, this seems to me to be diversionary of the Kibunja Commission. The percentages presented don't seem to be drawn from the right places:

1. The figures of ethnic composition should be tallied not against plain Census figures but from college, university, poly and high school graduates this would give a better indication of how the distribution against "qualification".
2. The peculiar preferences for non civil service jobs by certain ethnic groups should also inform such opinions, e.g Asians are not known to be keen on military/police jobs. Neither do they prefer to serve in professional levels such as accounting, law, medicine, engineering for the gova.
3. Our collective villager mentality is evident in all sectors of the economy not only the civil service.

This is not to deny the inequities prevalent in the civil service but to demand for a thorough and scientific diagnosis of the problem. This is more so because, in an era where the need to instill a meritocratic culture in the public service is imperative we must guard against unproven bias.

At the performance level, the perception that one comes from a dominant group works against the morale of the specific person. E.g if one is a Kikuyu and possesses the requisite qualification for an overseas posting, and an Elmolo colleague with a lower qualification also applies for the same post why should the Kikuyu fellow be denied the position just because of his tribe??

Affirmative action has to be engineered at the the earliest opportunity e.g at school distribution, and equal opportunity initiatives for perceived marginalized groups. The existence of better opportunities for career, educational, personal and professional growth in a skewed manner in Kenya should be corrected. Because if we behave like the colonialist and "preserve" some tribes for the sake of tourism and "preserving their culture" we don't expect the same tribe to be equally represented in not only the civil service but also in the formal employment sector.

@Obi, gone and broken the hearts of anti-RAO.....

That said, the statistics presented here are just sad...no wonder we vote on tribal lines, "mmoja wetu akiwa Statehouse, then we will benefit" This goes to show which communities have been in power...kweli/rongo?

I actually have no issue with Kyuk domination of the Kenya life, to be honest they really do look out for opportunities and are not afraid to get down and dirty, kudo's to them and they should not feel like they owe anyone an explanation. Besides, this is a consequence of our skewed system which will hopefully change.

At the end of the day, its an individual thing, we all have to create our own sunshine. One should visit UK and USA just to see how individual wazungu's are suffering amid plenty because they refuse to roll up their sleeves.

However, the reason I blasted impunity was because he was being dishonest.

I think this is a useless report. It can only be credible if they can prove that the appointments are not on merit. Can they do a similar survey in the private sector and see if it will turn out differently. I can almost assure you that the same tribes will lead in private businesses, employment in private sector, international agencies and of workers abroad.

BBI will solve it

This NCIC guy is discretely splitting the country down tribal lines by providing useless raw data. He then makes people feel left out and offers no meaningful way foward.

So now we know. How has it helped us more than make us realise we are different tribes? So does he want the govt to sack staff based on their tribe or employ more based on tribe? And as someone noted, is the basis of employment tribe or qualifiaction and aptitude to do the job?

According to me, it is useless statements like these from 'trusted' quarters that make fodder for Political rhetoric that eventually drives people into different camps.

I think it was the most useless thing to come out of the commission yet! What happened to proesecuting hate speech guys?Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you
