I mean going green with envy. My friend, a college mate, who is a civil servant seems to have it all. In 2008 we were at per materially,if you know what I mean. But today... Wah! two flats, SUVs, a classy maisonette,a country farm with a beautiful country home and a river of cash.His girls are out of this world. I am a hard worker and in my estimation, it will take me at least 20 years of saving,investment,sweat and tears to get where he is today. Now, I suspect my friend has both hands in the cookie-jar. Would u tell on a friend? Or you just ignore the whole thing and go on with your life while you enjoy his humongous hospitality.

Psalm 37:1 Of David. Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

Proverbs 23:17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.

I hope you are answered

Infact I would request you to give part of the little you have to the poor .That is what is good before the eyes of God.
And life is too short , ask Wendz

If you suspect that your friend is stealing from public coffers and have some evidence of this, this is our taxes being misused and if you keep on enjoying his hospitality you are an accomplice in evil doing you are no better than your friend achana naye na upingie KACC on the numbers below anonymously utasaidiwa.

I have learnt to mind my own business . Life sio compe.

What evidence do you have to tell on your friend??....Other than that,stop wasting your precious time thinking about others.You can spend it on ways of making extra bucks.....and again,money is not everything.Happiness is.

@ IDP So, if you are still measuring your success by money, wealth, possessions, or other outward trappings of lifestyle think about all the things you have that money cant buy, you will find a lot to be grateful for and stop going green with envy...Shame on you

@IDP, some food for thought for you from the Holy Bible

Psalm 73:12-28 (Good News Translation)

12 That is what the wicked are like.
They have plenty and are always getting more.

13 Is it for nothing, then, that I have kept myself pure
and have not committed sin?
14 O God, you have made me suffer all day long;
every morning you have punished me.

15 If I had said such things,
I would not be acting as one of your people.
16 I tried to think this problem through,
but it was too difficult for me
17 until I went into your Temple.
Then I understood what will happen to the wicked.

18 You will put them in slippery places
and make them fall to destruction!
19 They are instantly destroyed;
they go down to a horrible end.
20 They are like a dream that goes away in the morning;
when you rouse yourself, O Lord, they disappear.

21 When my thoughts were bitter
and my feelings were hurt,
22 I was as stupid as an animal;
I did not understand you.
23 Yet I always stay close to you,
and you hold me by the hand.
24 You guide me with your instruction
and at the end you will receive me with honor.
25 What else do I have in heaven but you?
Since I have you, what else could I want on earth?
26 My mind and my body may grow weak,
but God is my strength;
he is all I ever need.

27 Those who abandon you will certainly perish;
you will destroy those who are unfaithful to you.
28 But as for me, how wonderful to be near God,
to find protection with the Sovereign Lord
and to proclaim all that he has done!
....above all, to stand.

But where do we come in, in the fight of this corruption thing? The money I give in income tax can buy me an old VW every month,and a prime plot every year, not to mention the indirect taxes. Yet when its being misused I can do nothing but fold my arms and spectate. Why don't we get mad enough even where our friends are involved. This world is just unfair. Even here in wazua had I written about pine trees or airport, this thread could now be on its 7th page. But when it comes to corruption everyone is soo impotent, soo helpless, soo unconcerned..... I want to leave this c(o)untry.

What are you complaining about.Are you after quantity of replies or quality?

The replies above have answered you , should we repeat what others have said for you to feel good?

@IDP,
Make it short buddy.Call PLO on his cellphone No. 0722747368 and tell him all you know about your "thiefing" friend.That should take no more than 10 minutes and leave it with him.After that,go back to work....Na ufanye kazi kwa bidii!

@ IDP i would tell you to have your friend throw you a bone so that you also get to where he is because in the grand scheme of things, when it comes to money and profit morals and all forms of spirituality fly out the window and envy coupled with greed takes precedence so when faced with an opportunity and you have the means and motive the rest is history

i actually understand where you are coming from, remember though that we are powerless when it comes to such govt regulations as payment of taxes.
Just try and live an honest life while your friend is enjoying himself with ill gotten wealth. The Lord will be very pleased with you and leaving the country isnt going to help at all.

Bro. I will not be surprised that if you were in his shoes you would do the same.You are envious because you wish you are in his place.You probably would be a bigger thief than him.You should actually look at him as an entrepreneur since he has been able to do what so many other civil servant would not able to do given the same circumstance.

You have very many problems...

IDP wrote:

You are not a true friend! I hope he realises this and doesn't trust you with his little secrets. When I have a friend who seems to have it all, I am happy...

In 2008 we were at per materially,if you know what I mean. But today... Wah! two flats, SUVs, a classy maisonette,a country farm with a beautiful country home and a river of cash.His girls are out of this world.

I am a hard worker and in my estimation, it will take me at least 20 years of saving, investment, sweat and tears to get where he is today.
You seem to think that your method of doing things will not work for you. YOU cannot blame your friend for what YOU are doing...

Now, I suspect my friend has both hands in the cookie-jar. Would u tell on a friend? Or you just ignore the whole thing and go on with your life while you enjoy his humongous hospitality.Do you want to tell on him because its the right thing or because you are jealous of his houses, cars and money? I'm surprised you are considering doing the "right thing" while in the same breath you think about enjoying "his humongous hospitality".

The last three commandments are:
8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Since you say "I suspect my friend has both hands in the cookie-jar"...

Maybe he has broken no.8

You may break no. 9

You HAVE broken no. 10

Lucky for you there is only a Law against no.8 in Kenya!Applause All you need to do is pray Pray for forgiveness while he goes to jail...

Please do not be self righteous and judgemental... you may be judged by your words & deeds and found wanting!

Disclaimer:
If you are an IDP you have my full sympathy for your plight.
