The reasoning behind that is this: if the pedestrian is alive, any subsequent pains he will experience in the body, you will have to foot the medical bill, even if it has nothing to do with the injuries. The police say, pedestrians will always claim that their subsequent injuries are as a result of the accident. And you will end up spending a lifetime, and a fortune on medical expenses.

never thought about it like this. Crass.
First, not realizing the gravity of putting another human being in harm's way through reckless / careless driving, THEN wishing they die so its easier on your pocket. That picture is disturbing.

So, where does the insurance come in? i thought the vehicles are supposed to be insured especially for third parties? If the car was insured, why would be the person who caused the accident be the one to pay? I dont think is the correct position.

Wendz, as untrue as it sounds, this is the case and moreso when involving PSVs with only third party insurance. The insurance companies usually "jump" and you are left on your own especially if fault was attributed to you. The other reason is that many "next of kins" are usually incapable of following up due to high costs of legal aid and the story dies like that. Secondly, an award from injuries and hospitalisation can be anything in monetary terms. The case is only different if the pedestrian is hit under a footbridge, has fallen off a moving vehicle or blood is found to have alcohol content-But even then killing or injuring a fellow human being fault or no fault is one thing that you will live to regret, whether or not you are punished.

But to think that a human being would wish that the victims of their carelessness die rather than survive only serves to prove that we humans are worse than animals.

Guys, I normally drive very carefully, slow for that matter. I hardly do over 110, which I find still high. That sato, dnt knw what got into me, maybe travelled back in tym to my very young days where speed was the only manly thing to do! (very stupid). Ama nilizubaa....not sure bt I realized my speed wen I stepped on the brakes....I tell u that incident is still too vivid in my mind.

My deepest condolences to the families who've lost their loved ones in this highway.

I use the road daily & I always say a prayer when I get home in the evening. Such are miracles that may go unnoticed...

I don't know whether I'm the only one who has noticed this: when in a public vehicle and the driver is speeding and driving carelessly, any time a passenger complains, the driver always responds by driving at a crawling pace to get back at the complaining ones OR he increases the speed and risk taking to silence the passengers.
No wonder most times when there are bad accidents you always hear the injured passengers complain that they requested the driver to slow down before the accident happened, but the driver refused to listen and even drove faster! Sad but true.

I flinch at the sight of young masters zooming away in wet conditions. Many are oblivious to a condition called AQUAPLANING.

where is this simonkabz did he overspeed again?Pray Pray

Sad!! After the Mombasa road thread...i keep to the left and drive slowly....less stressful guys na unafika mahali unaenda still smiling/happy....no curses on the road. RIP to the lost souls...
Last week alone, counted 4 accidents all on different days on this road...

I have concluded that there is a higher madness per capita along mombasa road than on other Kenyan roads. I hate driving on that road when there is no traffic congestion - especially the middle lane. Weekends are the worst, I think. A lorry changes lanes randomly a few metres from you, another fellow joins the road and wants to cut across all the three lanes like he is driving in his village, Another one zig-zagging across the road in the name of overtaking etc. etc. When all this is being done at 110k/hr + and you think about death, you feel like parking by the roadside - where another mad driver might come crashing into you anyway!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
