It’s Better With The Better Option!

Safaricom welcomes you to The Better Option with your number, from any network.
Your number, made even better…

Mobile Number Portability is here with us, and opportunity for us to grow our Safaricom family even further.

What is Mobile Number Portability (MNP)?
MNP is a service offered by all mobile service providers that allows you to switch to another service provider while retaining your existing mobile phone number.

Identification documents needed for Porting
You need one of the following:-
 Kenyan National ID, Valid Passport, Military Identity Card, Valid Work Permit, Alien Card, Valid Driving License, National Identity Card issued by parent country and Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Registration (for Corporate Accounts).

How do I port?
Visit a Safaricom Shop or select Dealers, fill in a Number Porting form, pay a fee of Kshs. 200/- (VAT inclusive) and send an SMS request to port to the short code with the word “hama”or “port” to 1501.

What happens to my airtime balance, M-PESA and Bonga when I port?
You are only porting your number and not the services.
You will lose:-
 Airtime – your unused airtime will be lost upon successful porting and will not be carried forward.
 M-PESA – you will lose the ability to use M-PESA if you port to another network.
 Bonga – you cannot port with your Bonga Points.

Can PostPay customers port?
Yes they can but they must clear all outstanding bills before they can port

Benefits of MNP.
It allows a customer to choose the network they prefer, e.g. choosing Safaricom, you will join the largest network in Kenya and enjoy…

 M-PESA – send and receive money, make purchases and pay for your shopping, book and pay for your bus and airline tickets, withdraw your M-PESA funds from PesaPoint, DTB and Equity Bank ATMs, and pay for your utility bills at anytime, from all over Kenya.
 Bonga - get fantastic rewards for using your airtime and for chargeable M-PESA transactions.
 Okoa Jahazi - need airtime? Get airtime now and pay later; stay connected anytime, all over Kenya.
 Skiza - entertain your callers with your favourite tunes.
 PostPay - get more value with the new PostPay bundles.
 Unlimited SMS - send as many SMS and tweets as you want.
 Sambaza - share your airtime with friends and family.
 3G Network – Access the internet faster on the only high speed 3G network in Kenya.
 Safaricom Shops - get help and purchase genuine products from over 35 Safaricom Shops countrywide.
 Dealers & Retailers - buy airtime and other services from over 450,000 retailers.
 M-PESA Agent Outlets - over 24,000 M-PESA agent outlets serving your needs countrywide
 International Direct Dialling - connect to the rest of the world with affordable international calling rates.
 Roaming - use your Safaricom line in over 300 destinations worldwide.
 Affordable Internet Bundles - choose the data bundle that suits your needs.
 Safaricom Broadband Modem - access the internet whenever and wherever you are on your laptop/computer.
 Safaricom Live - get access to education, information and entertainment content straight from your mobile phone.
 Blackberry - send and receive emails at affordable rates.
 Laptop & Data Handsets - purchase original laptops and data handsets at affordable rates.
 Business Solutions - converged communication solutions to improve your business efficiency.

Safaricom truly offers better value for everyone. It couldn’t get any better!

Problems can get out of proportion, and not only in the wee small hours. Don't let the problems eclipse the Master. Let the Master eclipse the problems.

Yeah, i know safaricom has so many issues that i as a user would love to see sorted out.... but i still know i NEED safaricom more than any other network... why? Because, i have monthly transactions(forget the one offs) i have to make on m-pesa and there is not ZAP in site where i send this money.... so, i know for sure i will not be moving soon.... if only they could sort out the calls dropping and network congestion I am happy where i am.

Ah! Seems we are a whole family in here! I was even thinking, Safcom should have a counter-ni kuhama Airtel Advert with something like "Mnahama mnaenda wapi? or Hatuhami! Or just something... I miss MJ!

It's the first mobile network I ever joined. My Kencell line was stolen by thugs back when 'pink was the color of clarity'

But then again, I'm told there are 4 kinds of people - early adopters, followers, laggards, loyalists - and I've always been a loyalist.

Lolest!

I have juggled numerous times with zain, yu, orange, loosing them, forgetting the numbers and passwords, giving them out to pals until I just gave up dealing with them. However, since 1999/2000 my whole family and I have been using the same 'niko na' numbers. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Especially with the internet speeds
