One who can borrow 1B and knows what s/he is doing might do YOU...d'oh!

Just buy into the bank already. Unlike the 10K guys, most of the 1B businesses & or people have reputations to keep.

I am buying KCBsmile

@GK I'll take a guess u r relying on mis-fortunes out of Triton...well, that is a case that went wrong but those r such big ticket deals KCB deals with every other day most of which go well so they go un-reported in the media thus, risk is relative i.e on a %age of net business(loan book) just go through annual reports and u will find that KCB is probably among the principal banks. I bet u ur favorite stock banks with KCB - So...do u expect ur favorite stock to have a reputation of a good or bad credit rating?

i cant agree more, this share will not go past 25 bob on its best day in the foreseeable future. 90 bob is jus a dream from a dissolutioned analyst/investor due to the bear mkt

I frankly dont know where pple get the basis for valuing KCB at Ksh 90 !

The best bet is the share nosing towards Ksh 25 or 28 max ! Otherwise its yet another counter im hoping to see it get mauled later on in the year.

My one and only argument is that diversification works well to deal with credit risk.

For portfolios of say 100b, if you have portfolio A with average 1b per loan, portfolio B with 100m per loan, C with 10m and D with 1m...

A is riskiest & D is least risky. That's a mathematical fact that has been proved in practice.

Other considerations such as administrative costs, which are highest for D & lowest for A need to be considered.

Also, portfolio D is likely to have the highest average lending rates. Portfolio A, with large corporates & high net worth individuals will be given the opportuinity to negotiate for lower rates.

Generally D is best for any bank... we just need to be careful not to go too low. If the bank proocesses loans of say 10k avg. admin costs will eat away any gains of diversification.

When i first bought this share at around 40/= in 2004 they talk was it will never go beyond 50 well it went all the way to 280 considering the 10:1 share split in 2006

in 2010 at rights issue the dilution talk was all about the price settling at 13/= but the lion is still going strong.

Hey Wawazua!!

This could be an exciting year when such optimistic forecasts are being thrown around!!

I bumped into an analyst who was telling me that they are seeing KCB at 90 bob!!

I was like you are out your mind. Personally I think when KCB can make like 3 bob eps then we can see 60 bob in 2011/2012.

A 200% flipper from today kama Scan last year.

a quick projection will see kcb leading in terms of profitability for year 2011 followed by equity n bbk in n.o 3. however, in the foreseeable future-this year-the lion cannot manage a share price of 90 bobShame on you . there r so many factors working against that; best price will be at 25..
