Our main problem is the police. If there is something I love about the US, it is their police force/security agencies and judicial system - to a large extent. If this was to happen in the US, they would have built water tight cases against a couple of students. No student would have tried that nonsense ever again. This is how it works or should have worked in the case of the UON thugs:
The police would have captured these thugs actions on camera and video. You can have plain clothes policemen do it or get the footage free of charge from the wananchi. Some people actually recorded this buggers! Get a couple of witnesses, especially the ones that were robbed and get them to record statements and promise to provide evidence in court. Collate all the evidence and build water tight
robbery with violence cases against 5 or 10 students. For good measure you can add destruction of property, assault, attempted murder, possession of stolen property, disturbing the peace etc. etc. Hoping there is no political/government interference and the judicial system actually works the fellows are sentenced to hung - no presidential pardon or none of that crap. The fellows are either dispatched to their maker or spend the rest of their lives in Kamiti.
Before, during or after the trial, some other goons might decide to go to the streets in "solidarity with their comrades". Repeat the process. Get another 5 or 10 and put them through the same process. Within a few months University protest will be no different from a Sunday school match.
We don't need new laws or constitution to do this. Our current laws are sufficient! And you don't have to charge everyone. Just pull an Ocampo and "short list" the ones with sufficient evidence. The message will be clear to everyone else.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
