Obviously these "students" can not read or understand a newspaper article.

Like someone said, 'Dimwits'!! I fail to understand why they would stone Psys, Changes, loot shops, motorists, cars. If they wanted to target someone, they should have googled the premises of the Security Firm, whose guards were involved.

To anyone who works in the media, you guys are responsible for the misinformation that is out there. There's a whole difference between Psys and Unga House, a whole difference between 1st floor and 3rd floor, a whole difference between security guards and club bouncers. When you keep repeating that the student was attacked at a nightclub, what do you expect these half-baked dimwits to do?? Get Your Facts Right!!!!

I think you are being very unfair to the media, they made the distinction very clear, in fact all the details you are writing here you got from the DN, why are you assuming that the other people did not notice the difference? they even got a quote from someone from Psys to comment. What else would you have had them do?

For me I blame the police, how do they allow the students to move from Campus to westlands without knowing what their intentions were and making the necessary security arrangements.

Demos and street protests should be under police supervison, mob psychology makes people do things they would not normally do like looting etc.

I am not supporting the destruction of property by the students, all I am saying is that such behaviour is expected and authorities who we pay to provide protection should do their work.

Obi, there is no such thing as a peaceful demo by public uni students. I left UoN 3 yrs ago and I know for a fact that most of those shouting comrades power are thugs. I recall during my first year hearing an eng student sayin how he was longing for the next blackout so that he could get a phone.

Our main problem is the police. If there is something I love about the US, it is their police force/security agencies and judicial system - to a large extent. If this was to happen in the US, they would have built water tight cases against a couple of students. No student would have tried that nonsense ever again. This is how it works or should have worked in the case of the UON thugs:

The police would have captured these thugs actions on camera and video. You can have plain clothes policemen do it or get the footage free of charge from the wananchi. Some people actually recorded this buggers! Get a couple of witnesses, especially the ones that were robbed and get them to record statements and promise to provide evidence in court. Collate all the evidence and build water tight robbery with violence cases against 5 or 10 students. For good measure you can add destruction of property, assault, attempted murder, possession of stolen property, disturbing the peace etc. etc. Hoping there is no political/government interference and the judicial system actually works the fellows are sentenced to hung - no presidential pardon or none of that crap. The fellows are either dispatched to their maker or spend the rest of their lives in Kamiti.

Before, during or after the trial, some other goons might decide to go to the streets in "solidarity with their comrades". Repeat the process. Get another 5 or 10 and put them through the same process. Within a few months University protest will be no different from a Sunday school match.

We don't need new laws or constitution to do this. Our current laws are sufficient! And you don't have to charge everyone. Just pull an Ocampo and "short list" the ones with sufficient evidence. The message will be clear to everyone else.

tsk tsk BTW is just as it says BTW?! The high density of stone-throwing tendancies is peculiar to certain demography.
Since this cannot be interrogated to solution without your die-hard defenses driven by ethnic allegiance, let's just agree to disagree.

@Obi, dude, it was in the media, DN, Standard, Capital, etc. Student beaten at nightclub. Check the quote #21. Heck check the heading of this thread. Check the heading of the other thread; Guard kills student at Psys. Everyone thinks it happened at Psys. People were saying whatever happened at Psys was bad. Tell me, if you were the rioter, where would you target? Fact is the murder had nothing to do with Psys but most people believe it did.

It is very clear who is more ethnically aligned here, the topic was about UON student Riots until you decided to bring the ethnic card into it, has anybody here alleged that the stealing that also took place jana is a tendancy pecular to a certain demography....I simply refuse the silent negative ethnicity that some wazuans always want to bring in any other thread!!!!!

When a community is largest in the country as per 2009 census results, it follows it has good representation in thuggery and success. You won't see any wazuan jerk like you do if they had a bank robber Kamau from Muranga was shot and his village mates are implicated with someone wondering why that's the case.Wait until Omosh comes into the picture..rocks start raining! When a community does not even feature in the top three by numbers but some (de-personalize yourself!) of it's members are consistently and predictably known to feature prominently in acts of stone-related, headline grabbing, hooliganism in its fanatically support of a club or political position, this begs more questions than answers as to upbringing.

....hope you focus on being among the high representation in success as per the 2009 sensus you quote, and not among the thugs, in the same breadth realize that verbal dirrhoea against a community thinking they are all stone throwers is something you should strive to outgrow...

....when I was in campus, I never noticed any special ciommunity specialize in the riots, stone throwing, thuggery that we witness from students all the time, what I saw were simply THUGS n' THIEVES, it always cut accross the spectrum!!!!

tsk tsk tsk. stop splitting hairs and attempting diversions. rasta man, OK, OK. 'Gor biro yao neo'! happy? Burying your head in the sand never solved anything. Next time (and the time after that!) you see that lot of Gor Mahia hooligans singing in local dialect as they hurl missles toward police or motorists or uprooting the railway line, I hope you equivocally condemn those acts as much as you do in support of the master(s) that encourage(s) these "THUGS n' THIEVES".

I always condemn them, infact after the Rangers incident the following weekend there was a prossession from Jivanjee gardens to City stadium where the right thinking fans did apologise to the public for the previous weekends stupid acts!!!!

Not sure about 'always' but more of that spirit here on Wazua and I believe 'we' shall be moving forward.
