Like i said they surprise me. What if its investors perception more than it is company performance. Market cap n number of shares are different but somehow, the two shares trade at the same price for over a month, in the recent past. Its too much of a coincidence to ignore, we can say its a phenomenon.

I don't think HF wants to be in bed with Equity but is being forced to ... but in doing that they've created a problem, how long does it take to orginate a mortgage? 30 days, 60 days, 90 days? They have 7 billion to lend ...

It looks like today's launch of the infrastructure bond is having a positive impact on the share price. For the first time in a while, Total Demand is outweighing supply while the price is slowly inching up. I can see the price heading back to 30 in the not too distant future.

My usual disclaimer applies as I am an active holder of the counter.

@guru. I hope you've been watching HFCK and EB. 22.11.10 both closed at 26.50, today 23.11.10 both are down 0.25 as at 1340hrs. Co-incidence, or phenomenon. what we can say for sure is that it is a pattern.

Wapi hii?

Britak already own a sizable amount both in Equity and HF if I'm not wrong. I wonder what their holding will be after. Something is happening here because last week they issued a caution - they were creating 5m shares for staff or something like that.

BBI will solve it

@mwananhisa, glad to have you back!
On the cautionary notice, it was not from HF, but from British American Investment co.-99% owned by Britak- (The insurance co's investment wing) that it's transferring its shares by private transfer to British American Insurance co.

Disclaimer:Didn't quite give much thought to the notice and so the details given above could be slightly distorted. I advise everyone to get the full info on Saturday Nation - 05.02.2011. cant remember the page no.!

TOTAL BULLOCKS Liar

NTV's PM Live : "Equity Bank zeroing in on home loans as it abandons bid for HFCK"

So, will it still be going places with this diminished interest from EB?

They recently raised 7b and I think housing demand is quite high so Equity can join in for the spoils. I just wonder how many employees will be able to pay back these mortgages in full.
Did you see the survey where Kenya is said to be amongst the most expensive in real estate and housing? Americans pay peanuts compared to us yet they couldn't handle it.

Saw that here:

Most expensive in Africa.

The Americans pay "peanuts" over a very looooong period of time. (interest).

The problem with this company is that its 'moat' is being eroded by being too slow to respond to housing demand.NHC has already invested some amount for building cheap houses KCB,KenyaRE, now Equity will eat into its market. If HFCK continues dragging its feets in coming up with competitive products I dont know how it will remain a force in this market.

You are right @ selah, that is what ails them, they are too comfortable to notice the ground shifting.
