By the way have you ever noticed the way the Wazua teleco experts are die hards when it comes to Safaricon they defend the company like its there life.We need to be reasonable guyz.Im just waiting for April to see the financials for safaricom.

2010 will likely be a flat - slightly less or slightly more revenues. Reason - 47B 1H revenues means safcom needs to make 33B (achievable) in 2H to report the same revenue as 2009.
But from 2011 going forward, this is when safcom will sweat and more downsizing will be the order as strategies are adapted along the way to try to fit into the new normal of lesser revenues...
Anyway even if the 2010 revenues are the same level, the share has to price in the future. So 2.50 - 4.50 should be the new range unless it buys out one of the competitors...

Just read this discussion na utawajua but bado wote hawajitokeza give them sometime.
Most must be busy re-applying for their jobs in the upcoming downsizing, which they predicted would never happen.
you are so so right, the way they defend safcon .. leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

"Number Portability Side Effects: With the new [MNP service] there is no way of telling whether the call you are about to make is on-net or off-net. This is a serious oversight that is a violation of the consumer right to know the cost before purchase. A pre-requesite should be removal of on-net/off-net cost deferential"d'oh! Applause

If the number has ported there will be some 3 beeps before call set up!!!!

3 bips when calling a ported number! How will you tell whether you are calling a ported Yu,Zain or Orange?
And how will my grandma notice and understand these bips?

The same predicament will face subscribers when transferring money(Mpesa, yu-cash etc). Unless you ask the recipient prior to sending cash, one will not know the charges they will incur from the transaction!

The on-net work calls have significantly dropped, perhaps a testimony to its fledging hold on the market. For example in 2010, the company’s daily average calls stood at 800,000, but has since dropped to 365,000 daily.

Ouch! Not have have on-net calls dropped but the revenue has decreased from 8/- to 3/-

If this is true then I am glad I do not own Safaricom. Of course, I hope the length of calls has increased substantially... Coz in the old days I called more but for very short calls... Nowadays a single call can run 30min for me... with little stress!

What a poor article based on irrelevant "communication seen by us". Could have as well been written in india. Even you surely use your own phone rather than the switchboard to make calls given prevailing rates. Useless!
