Realist analysis of bank stocks.

Looking at the latest figures released by banks one might think they are impressive but they are not if you analyse the performance of the banking sector as a whole, you will realise most small capitalised banks Like Giro,Prime bank,bank of baronda outperfomed these listed and highly capitalised banks.

I think banks have become lazy thereby contributing very little to the growth of Kenya's economy.As CBK maintains the interest rate low these banks will be in trouble in the coming years if they dont get creative with their deposits.

@selah - Most of the small banks have a low base to grow on/from so easier to grow profits but also look at the 'Other Income' line... That is probably unsustainable...

A bank like NIC or DTB can be said to have performed exeptionally well but KCB,COOP,NBK, these are companies that grew bcoz of the crowd(sector)but not because of their individual strategies or efforts.

I also read somewhere (investopedia to be precise) that he avoids stocks of companies which "rely solely on a single commodity such as oil and gas". (bold ni yangu)
