Well... it seems even the Brits are fed up of over-charging by the mobile firms! Guess that's where Safaricom learnt well from its parent!

Very high interconnection rates! The bid by the UK regulator to reduce these is being opposed...

Just like Kenya, it was cheaper to call abroad than local numbers - until Airtel came in!
Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

What I usually find very very annoying is the EU data roaming charges. The EU zone operators were ripping of subscribers like a hungry polar bear from hibernation. Moving around europe is easy on fast trains and while connected to data on the GSM networks you'd get a nasty shock bill at end month with data roaming charges. So gross were the charges that EU had to intervene to force europe operators to implement a limit.
It's good to see UK guys insisting for fair voice call pricing. The rest of europe should follow suit. Also the should call for roaming calls reduction to africa. Marine cables are now active and no need to overcharge europeans for calling africa. Such bs charging. Time for this profiteering is over...
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

never ever roam in Europe.. Just buy a local SIM Card... and what's the deal with being charged for RECEIVING calls while roaming?
