@ obiero, thought he was giving his opinion on the news item. and none of the people who commented on it seemed to believe it. See what Tommy & GG said about it.

One seller just managed to spook the Mumias price by offering a lot of 100,000 @ 7.80. Suddenly, all the bids above 7.55 were supplied. BTW, I was actively buying on the day the NSE went below 4,000. I am now rather cautious, especially considering the damage that is currently being wrought on the international stock markets.

Rather interestingly, the NSE appears to have closed on an upbeat mood. Is this a case of negative corelation (or decoupling) with major international stock markets, or is it that the impact has yet to be felt locally?

I am a strong proponent that in-spite "globalisation" Africa (Kenya) has its own economic story to BUILD, ENJOY & DESTROY at its own pace. Just coz ur neighbor is eating kales it does not necessarily preclude you from eating meat. What we need though is to enhance local investor capacity/participation to rely less on foriegn investors to drive demand i.e. on the NSE coz we all witnessd the -ve effects of foreignor pull out in 08/09 that indeed East or West home is best!!

Not Yet . we need a confirmation that the bear is gone and the bullis headed for the 4600 level by CLOSING tomorrow ABOVE the 4000 level. until then i am on the sidelines.... People, dont get out your party hats and balloons just yet. I'm not convinced the slide is over yet, its never this straight forward. I've been disciplined enough to refrain from buying when stocks are going up. Lets see how this pans out. Just when everyone thinks the decline is gone, is when it will strike. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

"The sentiment is that the market is undervalued after a prolonged fall. Foreigners are taking advantage of these low prices," said Deris Mugoi, an analyst at Standard Investment Bank.
The decision is yours stay ou and loose out.

The speculator in me also drew me towards KenRe @ 9.10 - 9.25 and MSC @ 7.25. I am not too sure why but I can see value at these beaten down prices.
Let's wait for tomorrow and see whether we can pick up some more bargains! Have cashed out today on MSC @ 7.90 - 7.95; KPLC @ 21.50. Yesterday, I sold off some of my earlier KenRe's @ 10 as I awaited the clearance of those I bought at 9.20. I have had to take a lower than expected gain as I have seen possibilities of prices falling below my BUY prices. I bought some KQs @ 36.50 and the price has gone back to 35 even before my shares cleared. I have therefore decided to take some precautions to keep more powder dry in case of another meltdown.
