Albert Kamau Wandui may have got the highest marks in the 2010 KCSE but I think the best candidate was one Lydia Katini Mwangasha.

Anybody opposed? Check this out:

Good job to both and best wishes to them.

But what of Daniel Chumba, 19yr old herdsboy, from Kapsabet Boys in the arid Eldoret North, abandoned by his parents at a tender age; scored a straight A, thanks God and wants to be a doctor to help those in need.

Lydia Mwangasha, 17yr old best female student nationally, from Kenya High School, last born in family of seven. So excited still in shock, and always been a top performer. Surfed the net and found her passion - Doctors without borders, helping people in war-torn countries.

Heck @Kusadikika, I am male - what a contrast! Difficult not to take a second look at her on the clip, and she speaks confidently, is stylishly dressed, and thinks beyond Kenya.
The young man is plain by most standards, and speaks in Swahili. He drinks milk from a gourd, carried by villagers in a rural area. Everything around him is arid and dry.

So is s(he) the best student?
The jury is out - only the sands and winds of time may tell.

We need John Allan Namu and friends to do an investigative piece on life for these top students after all is said and done. Maybe follow up some of those who finished in the 90s. I believe this would be ground breaking

Lydia Mwangasha is a daughter to my one time Physics Teacher - Mrs. Mwangasha - Murray Girls. All her daughters have been stars and almost all went to Kenya High, the Last born has finished in style. Very happy for her. Congratulations to Lydia and her Mom.

Jury is in. There is not much to discuss on such matters. Quite an open and shut case. The boy is the better student. He has surpassed physical, mental and social hurdles that if Lydiah had experienced even for one minute she would be nowhere.

I have to own up, we @citizentvkenya were conned, that Watchie claiming to be an A student from Maranda was fake! We were duped!
