I can assure you that we are a vocal minority. If you were to see the ratings of these soaps, they would boggle the mind. The ad space between the end of the 8 o'clock soap on Citizen and 9 o'clock news is now worth 3m d'oh!

I dont know why you should attack a company that has Identified a niche and filled it.personally am not its target market but my mum, dad, wife and most of my neighbors follow this 'shieet' like its food....My mum visited me the other day and I was following a very interesting program she had to go to my neighbors at night to follow the program.

The funny part is that KTN held the mantle sometime back with these mexican soaps but they decided to target the CSI,Prisonbreak,Desperatehouse wives Market ,only to find cheap DVDs of the same programs are flooding the market who, Will watch a program which has ksh.50 dvd in the streets.

@Impunity she not young she is approaching 60s
just like @burningspear is saying citizen TV appeals to that market which is not sophisticated they want simple programs with a plot that is common. That explains why naija movies are a hit in this country.

To target this market, it makes economic sense since these are people who make purchasing decisions and have a higher disposable income.

I agree with most of u. Citizen news is the most interesting programme in these station. First there is a soap before 9. Then immediately afterwards a Naija movie. Now this is tortue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But anyway , we have the option of choosing other stations to watch. These series of events has made me realise how valuable DSTV is.
