Ground Floor - You are the guard. All visitors to the block will stop there for directions. When thugs visit, you will be the nearest target. God forbid when there is a sewer problem.

2nd, 3rd & 4th Floor - Your mother will be worn out by the time she gets to your place.

5th Floor - Illegal and the City Council will one day catch up with you.

1st Floor - BEST.

BTW - this is from experience.

Agree with GG to some extent. 1st and 2nd floor are the best. I consider 2nd floor a better blend of privacy, security and accessibility.

The best floor to stay in an apartment is the ground floor especially far from the entrance,.You will have the comfort that comes with it, climbing stairs even to the first floor 2 or 3 times a day sucks .

I think top floor might not be the best bet for the long run. Consider repairs for ceiling boards & leakages. If the roof is not well made... you and your floormates will be the only ones who care!

My preference is 1st Floor to 2nd floor. Less exercise than upper floors, less disturbance than gf.

1st or 2nd are the best option...ground floor only good if the block is furthest away from the main entrance to the apartment complex

Go for 1 or 2nd floor for reasons raised by GG above

@ Caveman, I think it depends. If you have alot of madenis (debts) go to the top most floor.

Thanks all for your advice. I think I will go for first floor instead of second. The apartment is far from the main gate hence ground floor is also a good option.

You are allowed 5 floors in Nairobi if you have a lift... Without a lift... the 5th might be illegal!

top floor... hata ukipiga nduru when landing planes in Wajir airstrip the noise will be minimally heard by the people behind you.

But on a serious note i find it abit more private since watu sio wengi wanapita pita hapo. its cleaner since its only u and ur neighbor who use the common area as compared to the other floors where everyone passes thru.
Security.. utaskia nduru za 1st floor kabla thugs hawajakufikia and be better prepared for them

GF is ideal if u have small kids but be ready to fight crawling intruders like ants & rats. 1st is the best compared to upper floors, when water is scare u & the fellow on GF will get it first.

Nowadays, [good] developments have tanks on the ground & one the roof so the GF does not have much of an advantage. Unless, you use debes to carry water to the apartments...

Also remember that the service charge will be significantly higher when there is a lift.
