The one for Bankers Cheque is terrible! In some cases there is no way of avoiding being conned.
I am told some con men are so connected they actually get the details of the fake Bankers Cheque inserted into the banks system - for some banks. When you are about to close the deal [and you seem nervous/suspicious], they give you the bankers cheque and accompany you to a branch of your choice so that you can have it authenticated. You present the bankers cheque to the bank personnel - random - they check in the system and tell you it is okay/authentic. You go sign the papers and hand over your car + documents. You show up at your bank and deposit the Bankers Cheque. A few days later you are contacted and told it is fake! The fellows contact their person immediately the deal is done and the details of your Bankers Cheque are removed from the system and tracks covered - especially if it is someone who understands the system properly.
I don't know what kind of system audits are employed in some of our banks but I am guessing they are very weak!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
