Mwai Kibaki withdraws names of 4 nominees to the posts of CJ, AG, DPP, and Budget Controller.

Now now now, why all the stress!
But what was Raila to announce to cause such hasty retreat?

President Kibaki withdraws names of four nominees to key state positions in the face of strong opposition. Three positions to be re-advertised and filled through Public Service Commission. Judicial Service Commission to have role in replacing Chief Justice.

At this juncture, I'd like to thank all Kenyans who voted for the new constitution.

This document seems to be quite powerful!

All of a sudden, in spite of the hot weather, I feel very hopeful for the future.

Kudos,

The President and PM will only have to agree on AG. Every other appointment is through the new order. The transitional clauses have been trashed as we can say.

..at last he got some good advise. I believe the prezzos announcement was strategic - to ensure that RAOs press conference losses punch..whatever the case the annoucement will certainly lower the political temperatures...

a little disappointing for all the empty talking heads, quasi-analysts and busy bodies that have been grabbing the headlines by screaming 'constitutional crisis' when there really was none.

what was he waiting for? kengele? I believe the constitutional court judges have told him the thing was unconstitutional and instead of waiting for embarrassment, he opted to "jump the gun". otherwise, what has changed in his stand these few days since the last press conference?...
