Benghazi is in the hands of protesters who drove an explosive laden car into a military wall.... and there are rumors that Gadhafi has fled to Venezuela but not before one of his sons shot a brother in the shoulder.....Ooops!! Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

I couldnt blieve it when i saw the crowds in the streets shouting anti-Gaddafi slogans. Surely there is no strongman too hard to oust so long as there masses are behind the revolution...in other news, Uganda is blocking texts that contain the words EGYPT and TUNISIA What a wicked man I am!The things I want to do,I don't do.The things I don't want to do I find myself doing

I kinda have a soft spot for this guy coz of his pan Africanist rhetoric. Unlike most leaders he doesnt kow tow to the west. I like his att but if his departure will lead to better lives for the ordinary peeps then so be it. One thing for sure though, he has so many enemies in the west. Since these uprisings began, I haven't heard from Amensty Int but now they are all over giving estimates of the dead and injured which is quite telling. Why were they silent in Egypt, Tunisia et al?
It won't surprise me if Obama came out saying Gads must go unlike the cautious approach he took with Mubarak

These Libyans appear to be faster that Tunisians and Egyptians...poor Gadaffi....how times change. When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

The protestors have grabbed weapons and are now engaging in shootouts with the Army !
The 'mad dog of middle east' may topple faster than Ali and Mubarak. In the meantime the Arab unrest is causing M7 jitters. Talk of a blowing 'ill' wind.

No human being can stop change. You may thinks that whatever is happening in the Arab world is a one day event. You're wrong. Pressure has been building up unregulated over a period of time. It has now gotten a vent! However, their scenario is very different from ours. In Kenya, we have progressively agitated and demanded for change since the days of one-party KANU rule. The democratic space got expanded with the advent of multi-partyism. We have successfully achieved great strides in our constitution by for instance eradicating detention without trial, allowing Kenyans to exercise freedom of association, freedom of information et al. The culmination of this journey was the promulgation of the new Constitution.

If MO1 was still holding into power, this wind surely would be here with us and blowing real hard.... for now, even thought there are wrangles, i dont think things are so bad to make people stop working in their shambas/jua kali shops/ offices to go to the streets..... I highly doubt.... May be for our neighbours... but i doubt they are complaining enough for that wind to find its place there either!

SWEE....ET The impact of this Arab revolution is very significant, Arab dictators have been a yoke on the necks of the western powers who could not justify pushing for reforms in poor African countries while supporting their oil rich despotic allies in Egypt and the middle east. With the fall of these dictators, they will be free to try and gain a foothold in Africa by pushing for democratic change in back water countries that are now turning to the East. If I were Mugabe, Gbagbo etc, I would be very worried, the era of dictators is coming to an end. "The purpose of bureaucracy is to compensate for incompetence and lack of discipline." James Collins

This man Gadhafi has being trying to revive kingdoms in Africa so that they can also recognise him as their king. He wants to be King of Kings. Not a good man for Africa. Who will give him refuge?

The likes of Gadhafi, Mugabe,Museveni etc make me wonder how greatful a man of the people Nelson Mandela is. If any one soul deserved 20 terms in office,it was this man Mandela, yet he chose to take only one term in milk n honey n twenty seven yrs behind bars. They say power is sweet but Mandela says the people are sweeter.

No matter how strong-willed you are, absolute power for 41 years will drive any man mad. Imagine every single person around you doing your every bidding for 41 years!
