dont rip off people in the name of business, you ought to be ashamed. a 20year old car at the same value as a 5year old car? where is your conscience?

we all value things differently on the market. We also all bargain. Its unlikely that when buying a car you'd pay the first price you're asked for. If you dont like the price, you walk away and shop around. Nothing wrong in anyone stating how much they'd like to sell at.

Well this is a forum for smart people i believe..selling at a fair price is OK.. No point advertising the car at 350k and end up selling at 200k!!ud rather offer the car at a decent price and attract genuine buyers. mind you, with so much competition these days, even the initial price you set matters....

And so what's a FAIR price? Supply & Demand.
Look at fuel prices right now and tell me where these ideas of "fair" and "unfair" pricing have brought us. Unless a product is regulated, let buyers and sellers strike their own bargain in the market.

in all fairness, u cant compare fuel prices with car prices....i can import a 200,000km used car at CIF 2000 USD and sell it here at a minimum profit..can u do that with fuel?can u import?fuel is a monopoly where we have no option but to buy, fair price or not! in agreement with Wendz, I do wish the car is sold at a reasonable price. What we are pointing out is the fact that an advert in a forum like this one needs to carry a realistic price..

@ Captainrio. There you go again. So, what's a reasonable price?

Don't get discouraged by the above comments. I sold a 1992 Toyota 100 last year at Ksh 320k (I had quoted the car at 350k). Just put a 'For Sale' sign on the car since I found it to be the most effective method of selling. On the first day of putting the sign I got 3 offers of 300K which I turned down. Then got 2 brokers who wanted to give me 250k that I refused. I finally sold it for 320k on the third week. Infact I pitied one customer who travelled from Kakamega only to find that I had sold the car the previous day (we had agreed on 330k over the phone but never thought he was serious since its only his friend in Nairobi who had viewed the car).

I tried putting the car on the Nation classifieds but never got a single call. I also tried Wazua (http://www.wazua.co.ke/forum/Toyota 100) and never got any serious response.

As long as your car is clean and well maintained, it will definitely sell since the Toy100s have such a good reputation locally.....age notwithstanding.

Very true.

I once had a Toyota AE 100. Its a very good car, very stable and powerful on the road. Its in high demand and whatever the nay-sayers do or remark, the car will always sell. I later sold it at Kshs 365,000. Wenye wivu wameze wembe!

I believe that ALL Toys (but the mighty VX) are highly OVERvalued here in Kenya and in the source markets - due to purely demand and supply market forces. That is the reality and this is why I don't need to be a HAVE to drive something European - after all, there are good Euro models that are way cheaper than Toys. Also, those who drive Toys are not HAVE-NOTS as claimed by some dude.

This forum is for pple who have no fear to air their views - these are my views and you are free to criticise, but dont insult anyone.

The guy selling the Toy 100 - I concluded by saying that you will get a buyer for ur car, I know you will - because the market loves your car hata mpaka leo.
