Just seen a different thread complaining on the Standard. It is not just the Standard. Here is one from the Nation.

Starting a new thread because I want to make a wider appeal.
The question is what are YOU AND I doing about these negative articles?Wrote a complaint to the NCIC about this Nation article when it appeared. Two or so days later, Kibunja submitted a soft rebuttal to the Nation. And the comments section in Prof's article has since been blocked out. I am sure I was not the only one who complained but I think it counted for something.
A while back, a different Nation journalist had done a similar piece with a twisted ethnic slant. I wrote a complaint and my own view is that the tone has since changed.
In my view, the media escaped with a slap on the wrist despite substantially contributing to setting the country alight through the content of newspapers, radio and TV analysis from June - December 2007.
Not sure the Media Council can be relied upon to curb incitement by its members. Unclear how many journalists have ever been censured.
Freedom of the press is a fundamental right. But there needs to be a balance. Media houses can be nudged to, if nothing else, start to think twice before publishing content.
Good to act today because by mid or end of 2011, such articles will have a life of their own.
Obviously there is nothing wrong with our ethnic identities and discussing them - it is the stereotypical classification and subsequent demonization of entire blocks of the country that is wrong (e.g. Kenyan Patriots vs. Kalenjin Nation).
The result will only be chaos and ultimately no one will win.
