Safaricom and Airtel launch e-payment systems

Safaricom have launched a debit card attached to your MPESA http://www.moseskemibaro...prepay-visa-safari-card/ While Airtel have launched a 'mobile wallet' system. http://www.telecompaper....-payments-card-in-africa My first impressions are: Airtel one has less friction when it comes to payments. However, it is quite a new payment system world over, hence it might be looked upon as an overly complex thing to implement. Safaricom's debit card looks like it could be adopted faster due to it being on more familiar ground I prefer the Airtel solution, however, Safaricom could win this one with yet another marketing coup. Thoughts?

why cant airtel market theirs as well or they dont have a marketing department.when was airtel's launched? never heard of it.

This is how the telco industry has always been. Safaricom release a technically inferior product, and they use superior marketing and distribution to win the race

Airtel product look elitist and is yet to be launched!!!! "This payment method known as the Airtel 1time Shopping Card will soon be available in Kenya and rolled out to markets across Africa, subject to regulatory approvals"
