I think TC controlls the prices of this stock. At that level they will dump them to the public. Those who bought will be left hanging and burnt. Buy at your own peril.

East African Cables (CABL.NR: Quote) jumped 24 percent to 20
shillings a share after the cable maker announced it will issue
one bonus share for every four held. [ID: nLDE7181LM]

The firm announced that its 2010 full-year pre-tax profit
had halved to 258.6 million shillings ($3.2 million) after a 203
million shilling charge related to its struggling Tanzanian
unit. [ID: nLDE7171X6 ]

The company had issued a profit warning in July.

"The spike in East African Cables is speculative due to the
bonus issue, but is not sustainable going forward," said Onesmus
Nzioka, an analyst at Sterling Investment Bank.

We know its not, thats why we are clever to get out with more than 20% in the pocket...i will not be suprised if it dips today...going forward the company will still grow or even diversify coz its not owned by paupers.

Thanks for the capitalfm link.

East Africa Cables produces copper electrical cables and conductors for domestic and industrial use and aluminium conductors for power transmission.

It is clear that the company has not been able to accelerate its ability to leverage on the above strong point.

Word (or rumour for that matter) has it that the aluminium plant is largely idle whilst high overhead costs continue to bear down. In fact most investors have argued that the company has a deteriorating business model primarily due to the intense competition from Chinese imports.

But then again, which business doesn't.

This is how I look at its business.

The company has an excellent story to tell - regional growth expectations and high infrastructure spending in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania where the company operates.

I still believe the regional growth and infrastructure themes are quite powerful and bode well for the company in the future.

But that's just me.

Its a metal fabricator company.10% holding. That means they can influence the purchase price, get good credit terms and supply chain of the copper which is core component of their wiring process.
Diversification will work well for them. KPLC was not a big buyer of their armoured cables in 2010 opting to import a lot but now, they may get back big time.Hope the crisis in Egypt last a bit. U know y,dn't u!!?

Mon Ami, EAC is not TC. TC is not EAC.

What I see is TC owns part of ZAMEFA. If anything, TC keeps some cream for themselves. So the benefits do not flow to EAC...

ZAMEFA is not a Copper Mining operation but a 'processor' [metal fabricator]...

Just an upward price correction but when the pendulum returns south it will sweep everything on the way not sparing big boys and Wanjiku alike.

I in the stock market always njia ni mbili. Ya tatu ni ya mkato.

1. Fear and hope
2. Pessimism and optimism
3. Buy and sell
4. Shafter and the shafted
5. Money is made and money is lost
6. Upward movement and downward movement in prices and volume.
7. Entry price and exit price.
