They know that a Kshs 5 increase may have not affect the number of newspapers sold. Remember we have different newspaper addicts. Some go for job adverts, other for tenders, others for business adverts, then there those who are addicted to politics, others to the Saturday and Sunday magazines.

I used to read both Saturday and Sunday Nations and Standards. I'm now down to only one paper. Funny enough, the paper I have stopped buying (Standard) is the one with the better and more detailed online edition

Was surprised to find on Saturday that the two major newspapers had raised their prices by Shs 10/= Nation and Shs 5/= The standard.

I really wonder why the prices are this high while the writers are not creative and well informed enough to intrest the readers.

Abit of analysis:
..What they call ocal news are the previous day's 7 & 9 O'clock TV news.

..Sports news are lifted word by word from world sport sites which we can read free online save for local which they do not promote actively.

..International news are reported with alag of two days if most current one day lag. which we can still get as they break via CNN, Reuters etc.

Then my question, who really are the target market for newspaper sellersShame on you

am disapointed with u @QD
most people dont buy newspapers for political news or events.
there are classified sections for jobs ,property listings.. even for mipango ya kando disguised as massage parlors etc. for me the last time i bought a paper to chek on news was a long time ago. i dont buy the weekend publications but every weekday i must have a copy of the daily nation
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

I believe the news, weekly magazines and classifieds will eventually concede market share to online services offering the same. However, the newspapers have a stranglehold on other information streams like obituaries and tenders, hence they will always have a place on the market

Just research on how many newspaper bureaus had to shut down in the US due the shift to online news, even Buffet got caught up with his investment in the Washington Post. Even Scan launchd Squad Digital to deal with online marketing so the shift is here with us. As for target market I thnk it will soon be our senior citizens who aren't tech savvy. Personally, i go online thre is an abundance of SPECIFIC news i'm looking for.everythng else TV N' Radio.
