I was going to invest on this counter then some questions came into my mind why is the EPS 5.87 while we know the No. of share is above 1.9 billion how long does it take for the new shares to reflect in the earnings of the company. Because if we were to look at the current EPS it would be around ksh 2 making its P/E @ 12 as opposed to 4 presently.

This was a simple calculation error which arose at the time of the share split, the calculation failed to take account of the split. It should not worry you, you can calculate the correct P/E.

@Selah;As they say, always do your own research and don't let little obstacles destract you from the main visionline. KPLC is a big BUY at current prices.

Even wazua 'the authority, award winning, most preferred discussion forum by Kenyan investors on investments' is not up to date on KPLC.

@2012; the problem could be at NSE or KPLC itself. Have you tried KPLC site! The latest fuel adjustments(&fx adjustments) you get there are for Sep 2009!!!

This is about you and your investment, why refer elsewhere for what should be on your fingertips if it's really that important?

@sober. Their fin-yr ends in June. Are they likely to give interim dividends given the increase in shares after rights issued?

True if you do a quick calculation the EPS will come to around 2.14 but what you should remember is the true meaning of DILUTED & BASIC EPS. An ordinary shareholder is supposed to enjoy and participate in the profits of a company but only from the point he/she joined thus all shares cannot be rated equally in terms of EPS and that's why you'll find that when going through most financial statements that have undergone a rights or bonus issue, you'll always find 2 EPS' i.e. a basic and a diluted EPS.
This is why it is always advisable to exercise your rights coz not all shares enjoy the previous period's income at the same level. Thus you should ensure you know the EPS you are quoting as to whether its diluted or not!

I don't see them issuing interim as it's gonna cost them quite a bit. That said, well done @sober, I think you sold at the right time and I hope for your sake the current tide favours you.

No point in announcing an Interim for a 'small' amount though they might do it since it has been done in the past...

IMHO, there should be no Interim Dividend to cut/reduce costs of sending so many dividend cheques/EFTs...

Kenya/CMA/NSE needs to introduce DRIPs to help firms 'retain' dividends as Capital while cutting re-investment costs for shareholders...
