The assertion that Man Utd buys trophies is a cheap shot @Taz, you sounded more sober elsewhere - buying trophies is what Roman did, we'll buy our trophies if and when the Qatari bail out the Glazers...otherwise mezeni wembe na mtosheke na saucer aka Carling cup.

By the what happens if you lose in the finals? Mpira ni karata...

Who said manugu is winning anything this season but the curtain raiser??? You manugu fans are talking like you have already won the EPL....mtashtukia imeenda kwingine!!!

@kingfisher...I can see you finally have a voice after your team managed 2 consecutive wins...or it's the point about Roman buying titles that has rattled you...or is it that your team is 10 points off the pace?

Anyway, I have not said we are definitely winning anything, all I said is that I'm tired of people saying Man Utd has refs in its payroll - it's true that more often than not 50 50 decisions go the way of the "big" teams; but there are also times when big decisions go against the "big" team on the day. If FIFA introduces video technology (since the refs behind the goal in UEFA can't spot anything a yard away), then perhaps we can put that hypothesis to test

Its only manugu who are favoured by the refs....the other day at blackpool the ref refused to award a penalty to the Seasiders when the score was 2-0....that could have clearly killed the game....but it did not happen, did it??? So now tell me who is buying trophies, or attempting to buy??

A quote from Phil McNulty, BBC Sport's chief football writer. "Blackpool were total value for the 2-0 lead they secured at half-time through headers from former Man Utd youngster Craig Cathcart and DJ Campbell. And only referee Peter Walton will know why they were denied the opportunity to score a third by ignoring an obvious penalty claim when Rafael clumsily bundled Luke Varney to the floor in the area early in the second half."

That was a charge, the same way an opponent going for the ball at the goal line gets charged by a defender. If it is illegal then they should declare it as such and be dishing out yellow cards. Otherwise for me it was 50 50 and went our way, tough luck! the same way Birmingham equalized when playing against Man Utd in Dec, ball was floated into the box, came off a Birmingham's player's arm and was put in the net by an offsided Bowyer..tough luck for Man Utd, lucky break for Birmingham...you don't hear us whining about it.

Water under The Bridge, let's wait for the home and away trip to Chelsea, maybe that will be the settler

Smano....I totally agree with you, the two matches involving Man Utd and Chelsea will have a major influence on the EPL table.

@ kingfisher:
Can I just remind you that last season Chelski beat us to the championship - but only thanks to a £2 busride offside goal from Drogba in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford in the late April title decider...Two points less for them, one point more for us and we would been have been campiones for the fourth successive season and this year it would have been five on the trot...I mean, if hadn't been for the handball Birmingham late equaliser a couple of weeks ago, the bookies would already be paying out, 'cos we get all the decisions going our way, don't we?

...come on man!!!!

McReggae...In that same match with Chelsea, Macheda handled the ball before scoring. Every season managers keep complaining of bad decisions made by referees in matches involving Man Utd. I know they've also been on the receiving end but in very few instances. I think it has something to do with SAF influence and because they have so many local players. Its as if the Refs are afraid of giving anything against Man Utd.

It is beacuse of this....

"...I know there will be a lot of mails about Blackpool being denied a stonewall penalty and it's always the same with United blah blah blah. The fact is the incidents that United get in their favour are only highlighted because;
1 They are the biggest club in the country;
2 Their games are viewed by the most number of neutral or anti-United fans;
3 There is a consensus built up over the last number of years that United get every decision going and people just jump on the bandwagon and;
4 Jealousy.

The fact is that over the course of the season, United get the same number of 50/50 decisions as most other teams. At Old Trafford they might occasionally get away with the same decision that Liverpool get away with at Anfield or Chelsea at the Bridge.

The only reason people can't (or won't) highlight the decisions that Wigan or West Ham or whoever get in their favour now and again is because they are not as high-profile a club and their games are only viewed by a fraction of the people that watch games involving Manchester United.

Right on point @Mc...it is natural for refs to give a 50 50 decision in favour of the home team due to pressure from the home crowd, and more so if it is a bigger club - but it doesn't happen all the time.

And this is precisely the reason why we need video technology for a few things that the referee or assistants cannot see. Until then, you win some you lose some

Here's one thing i've noted, whenever Wenger disputes a bad decision by the ref, he gets all sort of insults from English fans, media and FA...ati he's a sore loser. On the other hand if SAF complains there's usually an inquiry which in most cases end with the ref being demoted to the lower leagues. @Smano...the only 'charge' allowed in football is shoulder to shoulder, anything else is a foul. Take another look at Rafael's.

Btw.... I'm not suggesting that Man Utd didn't deserve to win any of the EPL titles they have.
