@ Sober . u definitely sold toooooo early . poor investment decision . u cld have waited we near the results release day, coz basically the results havent been priced in yet at the current low price as allot of supply is gettin in the way... and by the way its 15% - 4.5% (commission) = what you take home.Thats way toooo low for your trouble.I amnt criticizing you i am just sayin. Your future depends on your dreams so go to sleep !

No commission was charged for the buying rights. So for him only selling commission of selling., which actually brings his profit to just over 15 percent. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

I didn't buy KPLC for the quick gain [but if someone offers me 30/- today...] but I will be watching 1H 2010-11 results closely coz that will give me a good idea of what to expect for FY 2010-11. The drought looms but the dams have some water... KPLC (& KenGen) has started recruiting thermal IPPs... GoK was dithering on guarantees but they better shape up quick! Even with higher electricity prices I don't expect much drop in demand as new buildings come up all over the country [esp urban areas] & manufacturing is picking up... BTW, Egypt [a key competitor of Kenya in COMESA] plans to raise [reduce subsidies] on fuel for pwer & vehicles... This will make Kenya more competitive... Greedy when others are fearful. I always like to think of the long term as a summation of short terms. If u can replicate that atleast another 3 times this year,by no means not an easy feat, you will have upped your portfolio by 80.75% at year end. Now the even bigger challenge of putting the money back into a good stock comes to the fore! I wish you a great investing year! @SufficientlyP

Sufficiently Philanga....thropic. first shorten ur name . secondly its still a mistake to sell now 15% really . wat can i do w/ such a small profit . y nt wait for the one month or so and rip a 30 - 40 % of your capital.its nt like we r' in a bear market and u need to bail out.. w/ or w/o the commision the 15% is a no no no no for me...yet again we all have our profit targets but 15% is way toooo low for my troubles. Your future depends on your dreams so go to sleep !

As I said earlier most investment vehicles in Kenya will give you an average of 8% in 12 months. So @sober, not bad at all. @qw, which counter have you made 40% from? Be honest now. From your speculative talk I doubt you've ever made more than 10% BBI will solve it :)

For once @QW correctly predicted its price movement, though i guess its fairly obvious to everyone! @SufficientlyP

Definately a good counter to have for now. I hogged enough pieces and i tend to think at times greed can be a virtue.

i only sold my rights. to secure the gains, otherwise i have the initial split shares intact. i am still prone to gain if the price rises yet i am cushioned in case of a fall in price. it is called defensive speculation. African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

Which i found ridiculous. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself
