@erifloss - I do not know how 'old' the stations were. biwott 'dropped' out of power 9 years [2002] ago so that might be a good indicator. How did KK get such traction in Central [considering the anti-moi/biwott streak there?]...

BTW, I got into KK after 2002 as a shareholder in Kenol [Kobil came later]

Those days most people never knew who owned what as most of the info out there were perceived as mere rumours. Biwott was and still is an astute businessman, he also made use of his son in law as a front in most of his businesses.
I think Kenya being the largest economy around these sides, Kk should also look for a way to maintain and expand in this market coz more people are buying vehicles in Kenya than any other place within the Region. Kenya is fast becoming the business hub its supposed to be and they should take this advantage being an indigenous company and this is why i beieve the post of chairman & CEO should be held by different people. A company's influence in Kenya might follow it wherever it goes!

If he is such an astute businessman, how come he has never completed the second tower at Yaya Centre, which is an eyesore sitting on prime property?

BTW, what is KK doing about GOSS? With independence that could be a route to operate upstream??

@GG - No need to build massive infrastructure in ROSS [Republic of South Sudan] until the government stabilizes BUT I hope KK has the ability to supply ROSS as a wholesaler.

BTW, if you invest in ROSS you need a local partner... many of whom are simply cronies/connected to politicians... Shades of Kenya!

Its like the guys selling KPLC now to me and the others... Then we will be selling back to them when the thing hits over 40 in two years...

@2012 I must say you really have balls to have 52% of your portfolio in KK.. I dont know if I should be impressed or worried??

Well, selling off some with 20% gain will drop the portfolio % to less than 50%...

Pheonix is a small purchase for KK but the Tank/Storage facility near Jinja is key for expansion into East Uganda...

Worried! It's not a good position to be in. Every time I bought into another counter I always somehowly topped up with KK until it has now reached this worrying stage.

Whats are the risks of holding so much of kk? I like the company and think they have very bright future and growth prospects.

Currently everything seems to favour this counter and it's just a matter of time before the winds start blowing its sails northwards. I just have too many eggs in this basket and need to reduce. I think 45% is good though if you have not put too much money.

I do believe that they do have good prospects too though i do think its time they put new wine in the old wine skin in terms of management coz it seems their is monopoly of direction in that perspective.

@2012, @erifloss. Thanks. With all the acquisitions I think kk may not give dividends for 2010. What do you think?

I am happy with KK's management... Smart & feisty... Only ones who took on GoK [KPC, MoE, KPRL]...

Maybe a little too much to chew at one time but crap happens!

IMHO, they will benefit the most from the deals they cut with MoE, KPC & KPRL...
