@Obi your point is valid. But even the judicial system is corrupt. My lawyer friend tells me you'd not believe the kind of bribes judges are taking before the judicial overhaul and vetting process takes root...and of course they've been taking for a long time!

The rot in our systems is a a huge iceberg that will take a long time to eradicate

@ Smano, I am not defending the judiciary, what I am saying is that if there is no eveidence, then there cannot be justice. Before a judge is bribed, the prosecutor (a cop) has to agree to play ball.

It takes a very brave judge to ignore key evidence in making a ruling, remember all judgements are a matter of record.

But yes, all this will only end when we have the long overdue overhaul of th esystem. the silver lining in the clouds is that we managed to pass through a good constitution, that was the hardest part, the rest will follow slowly but surely.

Enough with this Judiciary is rotten canary!

I was in court sometime last year for some unrelated issues. Happened to sit in a case. I don't remember all of it but here you go

Accused: So who arrested me?
Senior Cop: I did
Accussed: Who investigated?
Senior Cop: Inspector...
Acussed: So how come corporal...is the investigating officer in the charge sheet?
Senior Cop: It was an typo
Accused: Where did you arrest me?
Cop: At the police station
Accused: So are you trying to say that Inspector..is a lyer. He told the court that he arrested me in Nyeri

This was a senior banking fraud officer..very senior.

Everyone in court knew the accused was a thug but everyone knew the guy was going to go free.

So do you blame the cop or the judiciary.

It is the work of cops to investigate and bring strong and airtight charges in court.

If they can't do that, they should quit, resign or STEP ASIDE until they know how to do it. A lot of graduates in Kenya without jobs.

Allowing that crappy and stupid argument is open season to anyone who is arrested for not wearing a seat belt.

This cop will grab your hand break in a moving car, hit you with his handcuffs while touching your girlfriends thighs and will be promoted and be given a gun.

Ooops it has already happened.

Guys,

Take it easy. @Rasilio, if you were a cop in Kenya today, I would bet that you would have done the same or worse. These (thugs) are the guys who ( according to the police) had no qualms shooting to kill a cop as he bought his miraa. A top cop at that. There is hardly anywhere in the world, even where the judiciary system is perfect that you get less than life for that. What are the chances that they follow a vehicle, stop it and find the fellows armed. Out of all the cars on Lang'ata road. Me think, they knew their targets very well.

The problem here is that there is a total system failure in the judiciary. From the laws that are so archaic to lack of accountability at the cop command ( it may exist on paper) to the law courts to the prisons. Imagine you are a cop. You know very well so and so is a drug dealer. You arrest the guy and present him to court with all the evidence required. The guy gets away through one of the many options available including bribing out of jail. The guys then comes at you and your family with vengeance and even manages to kill one of your relatives or colleagues and taunts you that you can do nothing. The next time you get him, will you be foolish enough to repeat the cycle? By the way, this is the life of most of those cops.

Guys, it is good to wax philosophical on ideals, but let us get real. One thing I know about our policemen is that 95% genuinely HATE criminals. I wish we could be like them as far as that goes. Mwizi ni Mwizi and they should be out of society. Sometimes in life, the end justifies the means.

@bwenyenye Kenya is not the only country with criminals who will beat you, rape your kids and throw you and your grandmother under a train.

Come to Germany, I will show you some places. Ever met a skin head who hates a nigger?

Kenyan cops take bribes. These are not cops, they are criminals. They lie about a scene of accident, they should be held in contempt and be jailed for giving false evidence.

They execute people in broad daylight. That is a crime even in their own police code.

Don't give me that nonsense about their lives being miserable. mine is miserable too, you don't see me shooting everyone i hate.

These were not policemen, they will remain criminals for the rest of their lives and those they shot are waiting for them in Ahera.

Peace out!

@rasilio and crew - click on each of the following links. Spare a few seconds to briefly go through each of them.

Link One

Link Two

Link Three

Guess what. There was no thread for any of those incidences. Neither you are anyone castigating the police now commented. I didn't hear anything from the so called human rights activists. Someone was joking that now that this human rights activists only care about the welfare of thugs maybe we should have human left activists for the sake of kawaida raiya and the police.

One more link:

Alphayo shot as the mum watched!

And those talking about evidence, just click on this link and read paragraph two! All evidence was adduced in court, there were witnesses, police report, medical evidence etc. and the culprit went free. You will never guess the reason the judge gave. This is a must read! If the lady was your wife, sister or mother and you meet the culprit some where, what would you do? be honest.

Now I understand why you are talking the way you are!!!

We are living in this reality. You are watching it on TV and reading it online. It's a movie to you, it's reality to us!

Are you guys serious? So someone abroad has a skewed vision of reality as opposed to you and me back here? Then the argument is lost! Or won, depending on which side you sit.
