@maskana safaricom share price is doomed for a looooong time...

DTK can still run up to the 200 level which is not that terrible in terms of returns if one bought at 130..

Even at 150 the forward P/E for the stock is 9 making it cheaper than equity, co-op, and HFCK which all have similar growth curves even in terms of dividend yield.

Dtb still has alot of upside potential. Sector p/e around 17

@Guru..on a different thread..most holding now..or buying now..are more bent toward there being a bonus issue..everyday the speculation grows..the more the market price reflects speculation(i'm not talking of intrinsic value here)..when speculative news dissipates..perchance the said bonus issue is not announced..speculative aspect of the price will dissipates..and fundamentals kick back in..and never has it ever happened that step in of fundamentals sustained a price momentum no matter how good the prospects..

That said..DTK at current price is very cheap..but as to when price will reflect p/e of 16...that over 200.00..we cannot be certain..may be next month..may be next year..may be..if bonus is announced..then that is more definite..if not.. we may have a lull like we saw since mid Nov to jan..when it stuck between 135-142.. but a lull at a higher price range..

i'v had this stock since september..wondering how that has happened!! smile smile

try +40% since it was around 106 in september..and even higher if you got in much earlier..when stocksmaster, Guru and Hisa were discussing DTK, Jubilee and stanchart..focus however stayed on stanchart..save for Guru smile

fact is whoever is offloading now..for whatever reason..has made a commendable return.. I doubt anyone buying now is likely to see the same kind of return or even better..i doubt.

However maskana..your sentiments on safaricom..i very much disagree.. especially coz there's is no factual fundamental news expected until far later on.. any probable cause on price is likely to be out of market correction..or break in the pessimism affecting safcon now..

@proverb you are right about DTB..but the only reason i did't get in then.. i was off the market..leaving behind just one counter EB which has done me pround 105% on green side.. am not complaining..about scom the demand*2 supply.. does that tells you something?.

The price might be high... I do not know... BUT the Management is very, very good!

Like any good management, they took advantage of the high Bond prices & took profits... Whether they can repeat the 1bn 'extra' is irrelevant [just discount the PBT/PAT] & you can't fault them for taking the profits!

My question: Who has been left with the [IMHO] expensive Bonds?

does IMHO stand for "Is My Hearing-aid On".."In My Hesitant Opinion".."Inakzeptable Meinungen Hinterlistig Offenbarend".."In the Meantime However" or "In My Humble Opinion:?? sorry..blame it on twitting and facebook.. smile

Anyway..stanchart made a serious turn around through Bond Trading while Etemesi was in charge of finace..it was no shock when He later became CEO..DTK taking advantage of the same was not so misplaced..and is likely to recur..as to good management...well..measured against performance the do deliver..

DTK as a success story is not in doubt.. banking on perception of market to always favor it is however a dangerous thing.. consider value of NBK vs market perception..i'm not attempting compare the two..but perception is terribly fluid..
