Hi,

Does anyone out there have good advice on how to get rid of some odd lots I have on my portfolio? Suntra says I should place a sale/purchase order at lower than market price but still they haven't managed to sell/buy. Is anyone else in this situation??

How do you buy & sell odd lots?
[The old system was listing them in a different board. The prices varied substantially from the normal board]

most people with odd lots are as a result of the old IPO allocations. you have to sell at a lowere price and it is your brocker to oversee that. i had the same issue with Old KPLC and Kengen stock but it was reactified.

I am willing to buy Odd Lots from the following counters to top up mine since I also have odd lots in these counters: EABL, DTB, ARM, Equity, Centum. But as you have been cotrrectly advised the price is normally sustantially lower

Good for you coz you can buy them at a lower price... expect for the minimum commission...

To buy or sell odd lots please do not place a minimum purchase/sale price and they order will go though quicker. Essentially all odd lots are below 100 shares. You are not going to save much quoting max/min prices. e.g I needed to buy 33 KPLC shares to round of my total shares to a non odd number. How would I have saved by specifying a price limit? Even if they were bought at 3/= above market (unlikely) I would simply have paid 100/= more

Can one specialize on buying odd lots peke yake? Looks like it can be quite lucrative.

Why sell them? The proceeds will be negligible. Keep them and get free annual reports. As for dividends, join my bank (I&M) that doesn't charge for incoming dividend EFTs.

the fact that you have negligible number of them makes it very disturbing. i once had a 99 lot of KPLC shares, thank God there was a share split and now they are trade-able although i am still operating in the odd lots region.

Buying odd lots to fill up is normally the best and easiest way out. Actually buying is even faster then sell later on.

With 75 shares, the cheque you get is not worth the paper its written on, its better to just sell or buy more shares if u believe in the company

I decided a long time ago to transfer any and all the odd lot I acquire to my son's account. I'm sure they'll be worth a lot in the future after splits. To be honest they've never bothered me. Let him never say daddy left me nothing.

BBI will solve it

@2012, Speaking of transfers, how do you do a transfer, and how long does it take. I once wanted to transfer my shares to a relatives account, it was problematic mpaka i gave up.

Its easier to extract water from a stone. I've been trying since the 2nd KCB Rights Issue to transfer some shares from a relatives account to myself. Cant be done, need affidavit co confirm someone is dead and you are the administrator/heir/whatnot,get a broker to carry out the trade (they are odd lots) I have resigned myself to collecting dividends from the relative.

In the month of December 2010 I bought a cumulative total of 1000 odd lots DTB shares at an average price of 122/- which was way below the average price of 133/= for the 3 month period to date. At todays price of 147/= I have no tears to shed, even allowing for the commmision.
I am in the business of buying odd lots at discounted prices, and believe me they accumulate with time.
If I exit the 1000 DTB bought as odd lots today I wlll make some 24,000/= in a month (in DTB counter alone) enough to buy my fuel for the whole month!
