Well, i can't avoid this as there are few webpages you can access and enjoy reading through and catch up all that is going around . Though in can miss to seeing the movement of my shares from the top 5 winners and losers, in between a 3 day period i am tempted to check. The key though is any one set target of investing.

I think trailing the market on a daily can be frustrating especially if you like long plays like me.

so instead of watching the market I spend time reading about what is going on in and around the investment. Macro and Micro economic stories. It is better way to stay engaged as you wait for the meal to get ready!!

Punguzeni ujinga badala ya kuwatch numbers you can do little about. read on what couldmake the market move. Cheers.

how do you categorise this as ujinga while listening to someone projecting KCB 90 by year end..on the sole premise of.."pull a scangroup"..hio hata sio principle ya investing!

experience, studies and research have indicated that a buy-and-hold policy. When you look at guys like Warren buffet and that guy who died in kenya recently or Njenga Karume, they simply bought shares in the 1990s and forgot about them and now these shares are worth millions. For example, i remember there was a time when KQ shares were going @5/= each and they later increased to 100/=.if you however choose to look at the days performance instead of the monthly, quarterly or annually performance, there is a tendency to short sell due to small changes in prices which will however be eliminated by transactional costs which the brokers will charge for every transaction. Also beware that theoretically shares follow a random walk and hence it's impossible for anyone to predict the future price based on any historical, public and private data but guys like Buffet and many others in kenya have beaten the market mainly through inefficiencies in the market

Brian Mackenzie, what you forgot to say is that the Random Walk Theory is just one of the many financial concepts that there are and that all of them have proponents and opponents and with good reasons too. Welcome to Wazua

@youcantstopusnow, thanx, i know there are other theories but i simply pointed out that a buy and hold policy is the best investment criteria and i also said that theoretically the random walk theory works but however guys such as Warren Buffet and very many other kenyans av benefited from stock predictions.Yeah there are other theories like Behavioural Finance which critic the efficient market hypothesis based on psychological behaviour of people and which by the way i fully subscribe except for a few things. For example, people are biased in the market and that is why one cant fully diversify his portfolio. For you to fully diversify and eliminate risk, it means that you have to invest in and outside kenya, but due to the home bias theory for example, people only invest in kenya due to their familiarity to kenyan stocks and their ability to keep an eye on them.
