I also hate this law, because responsible drinkers are being punished because the govt is unable to implement already existing laws that can regulate illicit brews.

NB. I don't go to the bar on weekdays so it means sh*t to me what time bars are open, however, I appreciate that some people like to enjoy their drinks on a Monday afternoon after pulling off a mega deal or working on Sunday night as a watchie and I respect that, this law takes away their right to do that.

It is a fallacious assumption that if one is not drinking alcohol, then one is engaging in beneficial activity, mostly economic in nature.

Those guys fined are not necessarily achoholics, they were having their leisurely beer when they were arrested. Those who sleep in the roads and trenches of nyeri and muranga are alchoholics.

You don't stop alchoholism by saying people should only drink at this or that time. you use CDF money to build rehab centers the way the rest of the civilised world does.

I won't apologise for stating again that this masquerade of a law was cooked up by Mutotho, and nyeri mp's who have failed in their mandate of engaging their youth. So the easy way out is to blame alchohol for all their ills and pretend it is a national crisis.

Now that is tribalism. Just because men cannot perform as Mirugi says in her Tetu area does not mean that the rest of the country has to suffer their societal breakdown.

The way i see it, IMHO, Mututho got it all wrong because rather than addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment this law assumes rather fallaciously that by regulating drinking hours, then "idle drinker" would spend their idle time in economic activities. Its all over the counties, hundreds of youths have nothing to do so they end up in alcohol dens.

Mututho's law would be effective only if brewers of lethal "kumi kumi"/"kalove"... are driven out of business like "pharmacists". Lakini kama ni kuharamisha EABL products he will not get very far.
