The government should address the real issues on why there is a shortage of national schools. What does it really take to 'gazette'/declare a school as national? cant we ellevate the a few provincial schools into national schools?

Am sure all those education official's kids are in private not public schools. They are just a bunch of hypocrites.

Why not address the reasons why private schools do better than private?

are parents being punished for taking their kids to private schools? I agree with winston..there are a few provincial schools like Muranga High, Nyeri High, Ngandu Girls,Kakamega High, Bahati girls, Maranda school, Materi girls and that perform better some national schools and ought to be elevated

Had a discussion sometime ago with a former head of a national school and he told me there is absolutely zero cost to convert those well perfomring schools you have listed above to national school and the mandarins at Jogoo house know it. But why they arent doing it beats everyone.

And meantime the population of students vieing for those coverted places gets bigger and bigger.

Was told a neighbour schools his kids in nairobi and then registers them for exams in North eastern...with their three something marks they end up in national schools.

Guys,

What really is the difference between a provincial School and National school academically? Yes in a national school you get to meet characters from all of Kenya. Then what? Again, KCSE results are never doctored by national or provincial schools eti if you were in a National school and score a C you still get to campus.hakuna! I think this is a Colonial era relic that was perfected by MOI and has not been focused on by Kibz. What difference does it make if you get an A in Maseno School or Precious Blood really? In my opinion, all schools should be equiped and declared National schools. What stops a guy from Coast joining a district school, or even village school if he qualifies... Let us move on guys.. let us not live in the era of our current professors!

Few parents here with kids in high school i seesmile .....That said i find fault with our systems.Close to a million kids sat for the exam and only less than 5,000 will get a chance in a national school.BTW,what happened to Uhuru's dream of one institution of excellence per constituency?
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Any parent will tell you that they want the best possible chance for their kids to go to university:
Probability of going to university is, generally, but not always true:

National school > provincal school > district school

There is definately a concentration of better teachers, environment, culture, reading resources etc at a national school than at a say district school.

A good student can even pass from a district school. But on average the probabilities favour the national schools.
