Hi guys,
One of my new year's resolutions(that i am yet to break),is to be a qualified CISA.Doing my research i find that the cost of the 6 months certification borders an annual fee of a Masters degree. My question to Wazuans is,is it worth paying that much for a 6 month certificate? To what extend does it value to your resume for those holding such certificate? Or is it a case of an overpriced paper.Your input will be highly appreciated.

@bendi3, I'm doing it this June. The cost is registration is about $180 plus $425 for exam thus total $605=app Ksh48,400.
If you are serious I think one can do self study, I've seen many of my friends do so thus no additional costs apart from the Review Manual & maybe dumps.Alternatively you can enroll to places like Strath for tuition and that's what makes it damn expensive.

Thanks bird_man.Had not thought of that.Come to think of it self study cuts the costs by half. The friends you have, has it been a good addition to their resume?

@bendi3,The value I think depends on ones career and goals. But for Ksh.50,000 and 6months of study only, I think its a worthwhile certificate compared to some that costs over 100k and one has to study for over 1yr.

Got mine in June 2009 and no regrets so far! But getting the actual cert takes ages!

Get to know a person enrolled for the tuition at Strath and get the manuals and questions. The secret to passing this exam is to attempt as many questions as you can. Be ware, people do fail this exam though!
