During the recent flight delays - Kenyan passport holders were singled out and taken under armed guard to sleep on a cold floor, while the rest of the passengers were taken to hotels

How Virgin Atlantic 'fright' almost stole Ngugi's Christmas

Are kenyan's better off sticking with their national carrier?

No Kenyans are better off sticking at home, even KQ does racial profiling for African passengers going thru Armsterdam by photocoping their passports before departure, Such an act would never be allowed in the Netherlands.
Or if we have to fly to other countries, then we can simply borrow some wisdom from our Nigerian and Brazilian brothers and treat them the same way the treat us.The latter option is acceptable under the Vienna convention on the 'reciprocity' principle.

Richard Branson apologises to Ngugi - Ngugi's Virgin airline ordeal was unfortunate http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/...p;cid=17&story=Ngugi

Ngugi's story was sad especially the fact that there was a Kid.

I dont think that was an apology at the end of that excuse of an apology you end up hearing how the weather was to blame rather than The airline...if you read Ngugis complaint someone from California actually paid for his connecting flight to US why didnt the VA staff do that?

All what branson achieved was try to deflect the blame to french officials and the weather no where does he take responsibility for his staffs rudeness and apathy.

I beg to differ mr wote. KQ doesnt do this as an act of 'racial profiling'. its a requirement to sent those copies (of non passportholders) prior to or on entry into the respective countries.

Theslim, who has put in place that requirement? is it KQ or the Kenyan Government. For your information, if one is non passport holder of a receiving country, all that is required is a valid visa and passport.(Not photocopies of Africans transiting/going to thru such country from the country of their origin.)

Why does KLM that operate the same route not demand photocopies of African passengers travelling on their flights?
I once refused my passport to be photocopied and still made the journey on KQ to Armsterdam, meaning that such a demand is not a requirement.
In short what KQ are doing is reverse discrimination on their own nationals.(which is racial profilling)

@ Theslim, Can you really make a distinction between KLM and KQ on the NBO-AMS route? The only difference is "Flight operated by KQ or KLM" otherwise its always a codeshared flight, just like for other prime routes operated by Sky team members.

I have been on that route and don't recall photocopies of passports being made. In any case, by the time you get your Dutch Visa, which also entitles you to travel to any of the 23 Schenger Staaten, your personal info is readily available in the databases of a good number of the Schengen countries. I would want to beleive that for the particular cases, there must have been good reasons. And always learn to give credit that some actions however inconveniencng are done for your own security....even though sometimes mistakes do occur. Ngugi's case was an extreme though.

Don't buy into Virgin Atlantic's PR that easily. Totally agree with selah's post of Wednesday, January 05, 2011 10:34:43 AM above. You should read it.
