You are worrying over nothing.Most Toyota parts are interchangeable.

that is the best answer robah could get
most toyota models are very similar
if toyota decides to stop production of a certain brand plus its spares. that is a worldwide crisis that could force toyota to recall that particular model and refund all its customers.

But the shape is not interchangeable, suppose he wants to replace the triangular headlights/indications?
@robah has genuine worries...

Stopping production of a certain model of a car is not followed immediately by stopping of parts production.Think!.The AE 91 is long forgotten but walk into any spare shops and you find even half-bodies.

You are worring over nothing....most models including the old Corolla DX have been discontinued but any shop next to you still has the spares!2007 is just three years ago!

That story of Toyota parts being interchangeable only applies to some models. Panels and lights can be hard to source for some other models - I know a person whose Altezza was written off after minimal damage because some panels and parts couldn't be found

I have been having the new shape caldina for the past one year now and had the misfortune of having an accident with it. The spare parts were not a problem to get but some body parts were not that easily available but we managed to get them all. However, they are now more readily available and I must say its quite a good car. So dont let the spare parts hinder your decision.

@Robah, its important that u understand the way Toyota company works, It may use one engine for diferrent body types, thus the compatibilty of engine parts. The toyota co. also produces a particular model for a short period and then replace it with another model. for example The toyota Ae90 and Ae91 were replaced with ae100, while 100 was replaced by ae110. 110 was replaced by the toyota corolla sedan(locally referred to as NZE). the NZE has also been replaced by the ZZE(Currently popular in the local govt). all this has happened and people are still buying the cars. This changes should not stop you from buying a car as spare parts become more available even after a model is phased out. i have not used the car but the Wednesday daily Nations motoring section by Baraza JM recommended the model for speed and stability.
